Transcribe a recording made for a newsroom quotes you can check.
A long interview or press conference recorded for a newsroom comes back as text at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so a 90-minute interview is ready in roughly 3 minutes with every quote timed. The first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the rest of the interview and several more.
Where newsroom audio comes from
A phone on the table, a recorder in a scrum, a feed from the press room.
Three recording situations
A sit-down interview on a phone or handheld recorder is usually clean. A press conference taken from the room's audio feed is clean for the podium and thin for reporters' questions. A doorstep scrum has traffic and crosstalk, and is the one to read against the audio. Taking the presser from the press room's feed, where one is offered, beats a phone held over the shoulders of the reporters in front.
Quotes with a time attached
Key quotes come back with the speaker named and the time the words were said, so the line in the copy can be played back before it runs. That check is what keeps a quote accurate when the transcript is a machine draft.
Facts pulled out for checking
The names, numbers and dates spoken in the recording are listed in one place, with the questions the interview answered. A reporter on deadline starts from that list instead of a blank page.
A week of reporting
Ten hours of interviews and pressers in a week is 600 minutes. That is past the $6 pack, so the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers the week and leaves 1,400 minutes for the next three.
Deadline arithmetic
Ninety minutes of tape and a story due in two hours.
✗ Transcribing by hand
The reporter replays the tape, types the good bits and hopes the one quote they need is in their notes.

- Tools that cap uploads at 25 MB
- Waiting a day for a transcription service
- No timestamps for the editor's check
- A monthly seat for each reporter
✓ Writing from the transcript
The whole conversation comes back timed, with the quotes and facts laid out.
- About 3 minutes for 90 minutes
- Key quotes with speaker and time
- Figures and dates listed
- Chapters split by subject
- $6 for 500 minutes, $12 for 2,000

FAQ
Newsroom recordings, answered.
How long does a long interview take?
Expect around 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 90-minute interview is ready in roughly 3 minutes, and a two-hour press briefing in about 4.
What does a week of interviews cost?
On your first visit you get the first 20 minutes free. A single 90-minute interview fits easily in the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Ten hours of tape in a week, 600 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
Can I quote straight from the transcript?
Use it to find the quote, then play the timestamp to confirm the wording. It is a fast machine transcript, and a quote that runs in print deserves that ten-second check.
The presser is on YouTube. Can I just paste the link?
No. Paste the YouTube link, including a live replay, and it is fetched for you. A Facebook Live replay is downloaded first, then uploaded. Files go up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and before the first pack uploads go up to 2 GB.
What about interviews in other languages?
99 languages are detected automatically, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Hebrew among them. An interview is transcribed on its main language, and English mixed with Tagalog is handled.
Which formats come back, and are sources protected?
The run yields TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Source material stays private: recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete a recording and its text at any time.
