Transcribe a recording made in a synagogue shiurim, classes and lectures.
A shiur or lecture recorded in a synagogue, usually 45 to 90 minutes, comes back as text in about 2 to 3 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers about eight more hours of classes, and a year of weekly shiurim fits the $24 pack.
Classes in the beit midrash
A small room, a table of voices, and a teacher reading from the text.
The sound of a study hall
Weekday classes are often recorded on a phone at the head of the table or a single microphone near the lectern. The teacher comes through clearly; questions from the far end of the table, pages turning and side conversations come through less well, so the brief lists questions that were audible.
Hebrew, English and the space between
A shiur in English quotes Hebrew and Aramaic constantly. The recording is detected on its main language, so an English class reads as English, and quoted lines in Hebrew or Aramaic are the place to check. A class given in Hebrew is transcribed in Hebrew.
Sources stay findable
The names, numbers and dates that were said are pulled out, so tractates, page references and the dates of an upcoming event sit in one list. Chapters with timestamps mark each new source the teacher opens.
A year of classes
A weekly one-hour shiur runs to about 52 hours a year, 3,120 minutes. That is above the $12 pack, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes is the fit, and it leaves room for the holiday lectures as well.
What a class archive usually looks like
Years of recorded shiurim, and no way to search them.
✗ An audio-only archive
Recordings go up each week and finding last winter's discussion of one source takes an afternoon.
- Hours of classes with no index
- Captions that garble every quoted phrase
- Notes that depend on who attended
- A 25 MB cap on API uploads elsewhere
- No list of sources cited
- A recurring bill for a weekly class
✓ A searchable class archive
Each class becomes text with chapters, sources and the questions it answered.
- About 2 minutes for each hour
- Sources and page numbers listed
- Chapters at each new text
- Guest speakers named in the brief
- $24 for 5,000 minutes covers a year
- Text to post beside the audio

FAQ
Synagogue recordings, common questions.
How long does a shiur take to transcribe?
Roughly 2 minutes for every hour recorded. A 45-minute class is usually ready in under 2 minutes, and a 90-minute lecture in about 3.
What does a year of weekly classes cost?
Your first 20 minutes are free if you are new here. Fifty-two one-hour classes add up to 3,120 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers. A shorter run of eight hours or so fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes.
Hebrew or English: do I have to choose?
No. The language is detected automatically from 99, Hebrew and English among them. A class mostly in English comes back in English, and the Hebrew or Aramaic quotations inside it are the lines worth checking.
Are there size or length limits?
Each file may be as long as 10 hours or as large as 5 GB. Before the first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB, and a larger file starts once a pack is on the account. A whole day of lectures longer than 10 hours goes in as two files.
Can I paste a link to a class on YouTube or a podcast feed?
Yes. YouTube links, Google Drive share links and folders, Vimeo, and podcast or RSS feeds need no upload. A recording sitting on a phone is uploaded as a file.
Which exports are there, and what happens to the audio?
Every class exports to TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and a class can be deleted along with its text at any time.
