Narration sessions · clean audio · about 2 min per audio hour

Transcribe recordings made in a voice-over booth every take, with the time it was read.

A narration session recorded in a voice-over booth runs for hours of clean speech, and a 4-hour session comes back as text in about 8 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers that session, and a finished 10-hour audiobook fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.

Why booth audio works well

A treated booth gives about the cleanest speech a transcriber ever hears.

The room is close to silent

Foam and bass traps remove most of the reflections, and one voice sits close to one microphone. That is the easiest material to transcribe, so names, invented words and long sentences come back closer to the page than they would from a meeting room.

Retakes stay in the text

Narrators read a line again after a stumble, and the transcript keeps both readings exactly as spoken. Each line carries its timestamp, so searching for a sentence shows every take and where it sits in the session. Breaths, clicks and page turns are not speech and are left out.

The WAV is big, and that is fine

A session recorded as 24-bit, 48 kHz mono WAV is roughly 520 MB per hour, so four hours comes to a little over 2 GB. Files up to 2 GB upload before a pack, and anything larger starts once a pack is on the account, up to 5 GB per file.

What a producer does with it

Compare the read against the manuscript to build a pickup list, find a misread name by searching for it, or mark chapter starts with the timestamps. The brief and chapters give a reviewer a map of a long session without listening to all of it.

Checking a long read

Proof-listening a whole audiobook against the manuscript takes as long as the book.

✗ Checking by ear

A proofer follows the manuscript while the audio plays, at the speed of the narration.

  • Ten hours of listening for a ten-hour book
  • Misreads noticed only when attention holds
  • Retakes found by scrubbing the waveform
  • Pickup notes kept in a separate sheet
  • No quick way to search a spoken word
  • Chapter breaks timed by hand

✓ Checking against text

The spoken words sit next to the manuscript and can be compared directly.

  • A 4-hour session in roughly 8 minutes
  • Every take timestamped
  • Search for any name or term
  • Chapters already marked
  • First 20 minutes free to test the read
  • $12 for a full 10-hour book

FAQ

Voice-over booth recordings, the common questions.

How long does a 4-hour narration session take?

About 8 minutes. The rate is close to 2 minutes per hour of audio, and clean booth audio is among the quickest material to process.

What does a whole audiobook cost?

A 10-hour finished book is 600 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with at least 1,400 left over for raw sessions or the next title. A single 4-hour session fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free on your first visit.

My session WAV is over 2 GB. Can I still send it?

Yes, once a pack is on the account. Before that, uploads up to 2 GB are accepted. The hard ceiling is 5 GB or 10 hours per file, so a full day in the booth may need to be exported in two parts or as a high-bitrate MP3.

Should I upload the raw session or the edited chapters?

Either works. The raw session keeps every retake for pickup checks, while edited chapter files give a clean text for a proofer. A finished book longer than 10 hours goes in as two or more files.

Which languages can a narrator record in?

99 languages are detected automatically, including Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Swedish and Hebrew. A book narrated mainly in one language with a few foreign phrases is detected on its main language.

Which formats can I export, and is the manuscript audio kept private?

Exports cover TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, which matters when a book is not yet published. You can delete the audio and its text at any time.
