Transcribe a Taglish FGD recording and keep each participant's words.
A 2-hour Taglish focus group discussion comes back as text in about 4 minutes, with quotes and chapters drawn from it. The first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the rest of the session. Drop the recording below, or paste a Google Drive folder link for a whole round of FGDs.
What one FGD becomes
Eight people, two hours, one guide, and text you can code.
Many voices, one transcript
FGDs for research and NGO work put eight or ten participants around a table, and some talk over each other. The whole discussion comes back as one timed transcript; participants are named in the summary, quotes and chapters when the facilitator calls on them by name. Asking each participant to say a first name before speaking gives the summary names to work with.
A chapter for every guide question
When the facilitator moves to the next question, a new chapter usually starts with a timestamp. Comparing how three barangays or three cohorts answered the same question becomes a matter of opening the same chapter in each file.
A round of FGDs at once
Paste the share link of a Google Drive folder and every recording in it is picked up. Each recording in the folder comes back as its own transcript, so the sessions never blur together. A session saved as one heavy video file goes through the upload page instead.
Taglish answers, honest limits
Participants answer in English, Tagalog or both, and those switches are handled. Overlapping talk is harder for any transcript, so ask the group to take turns where the guide allows and the draft will be cleaner for it. A participant who speaks Waray, Bikol or another regional language comes back as a fast first draft for that stretch, so plan one review pass with the recording.
Why FGD transcripts lag behind
The fieldwork took a day; the transcription takes a month.
✗ Transcribing by hand
A research assistant types each session, guessing at voices and leaving gaps where people overlapped.
- A week of typing per round
- Gaps where people talked at once
- Taglish answers translated too early
- Quotes picked from memory
- No time code to go back to
- Reports that wait on transcripts
✓ Reviewing a full draft
The team reviews a full draft against the recording instead of typing from zero.
- Around 4 minutes for each 2-hour FGD
- Names from the room in the summary and quotes
- A chapter per guide question
- Taglish left as it was said
- Timestamps on every quote
- DOCX ready for coding software

FAQ
Taglish FGDs, the common questions.
How quickly does a 2-hour FGD come back?
In around 4 minutes, at about 2 minutes for each hour of audio. A round of six sessions is ready in under half an hour of processing.
What does one FGD cost, and a whole round?
One 2-hour FGD is 120 minutes; after the first 20 minutes free it fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Six FGDs of two hours come to 720 minutes and fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. A project with twenty-five such sessions, 3,000 minutes, fits the $24 pack of 5,000.
How big can an FGD video be?
One session file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB. Sessions up to 2 GB upload before any pack, and heavier video starts once one is bought.
Should I cut the warm-up and the snacks break out?
No. Upload the session as recorded. The chapters find the guide questions for you, and one file keeps one timeline for every quote.
Which languages work in an FGD?
Tagalog and Filipino are detected automatically among 99 languages, and English and Tagalog switches in one session are handled. Each session is detected on its own, so one group in English and another in Tagalog both work.
Which exports suit qualitative analysis, and is the data private?
DOCX and TXT import into most coding tools, and SRT, VTT and JSON come from the same run. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete each session when your protocol says so.
