Local meetings · motions and votes · about 2 min per audio hour

Turn your local's meeting recordings into text with every motion and vote on the clock.

A recorded union meeting in Canada of 2 to 3 hours is transcribed in 4 to 6 minutes, and the motions, amendments and votes can be found by timestamp. The first 20 minutes are free, and a 3-hour general membership meeting, 180 minutes, fits on the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 320 minutes left.

Packs from $6, credits never expire · then from $0.36/hour · Credits never expire · Never used to train AI
✓Three hours of meeting, six minutes of waiting · ✓French or English, picked up on its own · ✓20 minutes free; a $6 USD pack does the rest · ✓Member audio is not used to train models

What a membership meeting turns into

The motion, the amendment and the count, each one a timestamp away.

Motions you can point to

Chapters follow the agenda, so the officers' reports, correspondence, new business and each motion sit under their own timestamps. When a member asks what exactly was moved, the recording secretary opens the chapter instead of scrubbing through an evening of audio.

Bargaining updates kept whole

A ratification meeting or a long bargaining report can run past three hours with questions from the floor. A file up to 10 hours or 5 GB goes in whole on the upload page, so the question period stays attached to the report it was about.

English, French or both

English and French are both among the 99 languages detected automatically. A local that holds part of the meeting in each language gets a transcript on the main language, with the switches handled rather than dropped.

Draft minutes, faster

The brief lists the decisions, the numbers quoted and the dates set for the next steps. That gives the secretary a starting point for the minutes, which the membership still adopts in the usual way at the next meeting.

Why union meeting recordings go unused

A local records the meeting so nobody argues later. Then nobody can find the moment.

✗ A recorder on the head table

The audio exists, but checking one motion means replaying a long evening.

  • Three hours of audio for one disputed vote
  • Minutes written from memory and scribbled notes
  • Members who missed the meeting left asking
  • Floor microphones and room noise on the same track
  • Free apps that quit before new business
  • Amendments lost between the motion and the count

✓ A meeting the local can search

The recording becomes text with the agenda laid out and each decision dated.

  • Six minutes or so for the full three hours
  • Chapters laid out by agenda item
  • Chair and movers named in the summary
  • Numbers from the treasurer's report listed
  • One evening meeting on the $6 USD pack
  • A Word file to shape into minutes

00:04:12 We have quorum. The first item is adoption of the minutes from last month's meeting.
00:41:50 The motion on the floor is to send two delegates to the regional council, with expenses paid from the education fund.
00:43:05 I'd like to move an amendment to make it three delegates, one of them from the night shift.
01:02:37 The amendment carries. We now vote on the main motion as amended.

FAQ

Union meeting recordings, the questions locals ask.

How quickly does a three-hour membership meeting come back?

About 6 minutes. Transcription runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 2-hour monthly meeting is back in about 4 minutes. Shut the laptop if you need to; the finished text will be in your Library.

How much is a full year of the local's meetings?

Twelve meetings of 2 hours come to 1,440 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers. On its own, one three-hour meeting uses 180 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack. Prices are in US dollars, packs are one-time and the credits never expire. A local that records something every week can look at the $19 per month Workspace instead.

Can I find a specific motion or vote?

Yes. Search the transcript for a word from the motion, open the chapter for that agenda item, or ask the chat over the transcript when the amendment was moved. Each answer points to a timestamp you can play.

Is there a size limit for a meeting recording?

Each file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB, and whichever limit is reached first applies. Before the first pack an upload can be up to 2 GB, and a phone recording of a meeting is usually a small fraction of that.

Our meeting ran in two parts. Should I upload two files?

Two files work, and each gets its own timestamps. If the recorder kept running through the break, one file is simpler and the clock stays continuous.

Where does the meeting audio go, and in what formats can I download the text?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. The text downloads in five formats: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Whether a meeting may be recorded at all is a question for your local's own rules and the members present.
