University lectures in Canada often run 2 to 3 hours, once a week for a 13-week semester, and a 3-hour lecture comes back here as text in about 6 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and a full semester of thirteen 3-hour lectures, 2,340 minutes, fits on one $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.

What a lecture becomes

Three hours of class, turned into notes you can search before the exam.

The whole evening class

A three-hour evening lecture with a break in the middle goes in as one file, up to 10 hours. Record it on your phone or laptop, or use the course recording if your instructor posts one, and upload it on upload page.

Chapters per topic

Each change of topic becomes a chapter with its start time, so revising week seven means opening the chapter on the material you need instead of the whole three hours.

Terms and dates pulled out

Definitions, dates, case names, formulas read aloud and the readings the instructor mentioned are listed beside the text. That list is a good start for a study sheet.

Ask the lecture a question

The chat answers from the transcript: 'what did the professor say would be on the midterm' finds the passage and its timestamp. The answer comes from the recording, not from the internet.

Why long lectures are hard to study from

Notes taken live miss what was said while you were writing.

✗ Studying from notes and slides

A 3-hour lecture moves faster than anyone can write.

  • Gaps where you stopped to think
  • Slides without the explanation
  • Three hours of video to re-watch
  • Tools that refuse files this long
  • A monthly plan for one semester
  • No way to search the whole course

✓ Studying from the transcript

Every lecture of the semester as searchable text.

  • A 3-hour class ready in about 6 minutes
  • Lectures up to 10 hours or 5 GB
  • Chapters per topic
  • Lecturer named in summary and quotes
  • Terms and dates listed
  • Minutes that last past the semester

00:18:40 Last week we left off with the definition. Today I want to show you why it fails in the edge case.
01:22:17 Write this down, because it will be on the midterm in some form: the condition has to hold for every value, not just most.
01:41:30 Welcome back. Let us work through the example from the reading, slowly this time.
02:56:48 For next week, read chapters six and seven. We will start with the problem set.

FAQ

University lecture recordings, the common questions.

How long does a 3-hour lecture take?

Six minutes, more or less. A 2-hour lecture takes about 4. Processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, and the transcript waits in your Library.

What does a full semester cost?

Thirteen 3-hour lectures is 2,340 minutes, a little over the $12 pack, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers it with room for a second course. Thirteen 2-hour lectures, 1,560 minutes, fit on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. All prices are USD; unused minutes stay on the account.

Do French lectures work?

Yes. French and English are both among the 99 languages detected automatically. A lecture held mainly in French comes back in French. A lecture that switches often between French and English is detected on its main language, so read the passages in the other language with care.

Is there a size limit for lecture files?

The per-file ceiling is 10 hours or 5 GB. Until a pack is on the account, uploads top out at 2 GB. Audio-only recordings are much smaller than video and upload faster.

Can I record my own lectures?

Check your course or institution's recording rules first; many allow personal recording for study, and some require permission. The instructor is named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters.

Which exports come back, and is it private?

Pick TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON to download. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
