Save just the audio

Gameplay files are often over the 5 GB limit as video. VLC (Convert / Save, an audio profile) or ffmpeg -i clip.mp4 -vn audio.mp3 turns one into a small MP3.

Find the moments

Search the transcript for what was said and use the timestamps to cut clips.

Good to know

What trips people up, and what to do about it.

'Separate both tracks' hides your voice from the transcript. Only the first audio track is transcribed, and with that setting the first track is the game. Record with a single track, or mix the two before uploading.
Push-to-talk microphones only record while the key is held. Missing sentences in the transcript are usually missing from the recording.
Loud game audio under a quiet voice costs accuracy. For commentary you plan to publish, lower game volume in the recording mix.

Example. A two-hour ranked session is a 14 GB MP4. Saved as audio only, the MP3 is about 110 MB; the transcript comes back in around four minutes and a search for a teammate's name finds the six call-outs worth clipping.

How do I transcribe a ShadowPlay recording?

Find the MP4 in your Videos folder under the game's name, and upload it from the main page if it is under 5 GB. If it is larger, save its audio as MP3 with VLC or ffmpeg and drop that file in the box on this page.

Why does the transcript only contain game sound?

The recording was made with 'Separate both tracks', which puts the microphone on a second audio track. Only the first track is transcribed. Switch to a single track or mix the tracks first.

What does transcribing ShadowPlay recordings cost?

Is the recording kept private?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete a recording and its transcript at any time.
