FAQ

Transcribing an audio file, answered.

How do I transcribe an audio file?

Drop the file in the box on this page, or paste a link to it. About two minutes per hour of audio later you have a summary and a preview, free. A pack from $4 opens the full timestamped transcript and the exports.

Which audio and video formats can be transcribed?

MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, AAC, WMA, AMR, WebM, MKV, AVI, AIFF, 3GP, CAF and many more, including Olympus and Philips dictation files (DS2, DSS). Files are read as they are; nothing needs converting first.

Can I transcribe from a link instead of uploading?

Yes, when the link plays without signing in: YouTube, Apple Podcasts, podcast feeds, direct file addresses, shared Google Drive and Dropbox files, and public videos on X, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. Spotify, Zoom and anything behind a login need the file itself.

Does the transcript show who is speaking?

Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Every line of the transcript carries its timestamp, so any attribution can be checked against the audio.

What does it cost to transcribe an audio file?

The preview and the summary are free. A pack opens the full transcript: $4 for 500 minutes, $8 for 1,000 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes, $24 for 5,000 minutes. Packs are one-time, credits never expire, and Workspace is $19 a month if you transcribe every week.

How long can the recording be?

One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; a larger file continues on the main upload page, which uploads it in parts. Most recordings come back in about two minutes per hour of audio.

Is the recording kept private?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete a recording and its transcript at any time.

Drop the file. Read the summary in minutes.

Free preview, no signup to try. Up to 10 hours or 5 GB in one file.
