Google Pixel Recorder · share the audio file

Transcribe a Pixel Recorder recording, in your language.

Recorder transcribes on the phone, but only in the languages its list supports for your model, and it exports plain text. Share the audio file itself and get a timestamped transcript in the language that was spoken, with a summary and SRT, DOCX and VTT exports.

The file you have

What Recorder can hand you.

The audio
Long-press a recording → Share → File → Audio gives the original recording, to send to any app or save to Drive.
Recorder's own text
Transcript, Transcript (.txt) or Share transcript to Google Docs. None of these is a timed caption file.
Languages
Live transcription covers 8 language variants on Pixel 3 to 5a and about 15 on Pixel 6 and later; re-transcribing an existing recording offers about 40, and Google notes that may run on its servers.
Web
Backed-up recordings open at recorder.google.com, where a recording can be shared by link; links are private by default.

There is no link to paste for this one. Share the audio file from Recorder to Files or Drive, then upload it in the box above, which works straight from the phone's browser. A recorder.google.com share link opens Google's player and cannot be pasted here.

How it works

Three steps, the first one is the only one that takes any thought.

1

Share the audio

In Recorder, long-press the recording, tap Share → File → Audio and save it to Files or Google Drive.

2

Upload it

Open this page on the phone or a computer and drop or pick the file. The language is detected automatically.

3

Read, then export

The summary and a preview are free. A pack opens the full transcript with TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON exports.

Good to know

What trips people up, and what to do about it.

Example. A 50-minute family interview in Nepali recorded on a Pixel, shared from Recorder as audio and uploaded here, comes back as a Nepali transcript with timestamps, chapters by topic and a DOCX for the family archive.

What comes back

More than a wall of text.

The same four things for every Pixel Recorder recording, whatever its length.

A transcript with timestamps

Every line carries its time. Click a line to hear that second again, or search a name or phrase and jump to each place it was said.

A summary, chapters and key quotes

A brief with the takeaways, chapters with their start times, and the quotes worth keeping. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

Questions answered from the recording

Ask where a topic came up or what was decided, and get the answer with the time it was said, instead of scrolling the whole text.

Every export

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON from the same transcript: a document to edit, caption files for video, plain text to paste, structured data for your own tools.

Pricing

Free preview. Packs from $6, and the minutes never expire.

A 50-minute recorded interview is 50 minutes, so the $6 pack (500 minutes) covers it 10 times over. Every recording gets a free preview and a summary you can read before paying; a pack opens the full transcript and every export. Packs are one-time purchases with no subscription and no seat fee.

Pick a pack to open secure checkout. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark). Full pricing

FAQ

Google Pixel Recorder to text, answered.

How do I export audio from Pixel Recorder?

Long-press the recording, tap Share, choose File and then Audio, and send it to Files, Google Drive or another app. Upload that file on this page.

Recorder does not transcribe my language. What can I do?

Share the audio file and upload it here. The language is detected automatically and the transcript is written in the language that was spoken.

Can Pixel Recorder export SRT captions?

Recorder shares its transcript as text, a .txt file or a Google Doc. For SRT or VTT with timings, upload the audio here and export them from the transcript.

Is uploading the audio different from Recorder's transcript?

Yes. Recorder's transcript is made on your phone in the languages it supports; here the audio is transcribed again on our servers, with timestamps, a summary and every export.

What does transcribing Pixel Recorder recordings cost?

The preview and the summary are free. A pack opens the full transcript: $6 for 500 minutes, $8 for 1,000 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes, $24 for 5,000 minutes. Packs are one-time, credits never expire, and Workspace is $19 a month if you transcribe every week.

How long can the recording be?

One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; a larger file continues on the main upload page, which uploads it in parts. Most recordings come back in about two minutes per hour of audio.

Is the recording kept private?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete a recording and its transcript at any time.
