Vidyard · share links and MP4 downloads

Transcribe a Vidyard video to text.

A Vidyard video with a public share link can be pasted here as it is, and owners on a paid plan can download the MP4. Either way you get a timestamped transcript, a summary and SRT and VTT caption files.

Free preview and summary Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file 99+ languages TXT · DOCX · SRT · VTT · JSON

The file you have

What Vidyard lets you take out.

Share link
A public share.vidyard.com/watch/<id> link plays without signing in, and we read it directly (checked 11 October 2026).
Download
From the video's edit page, Download under the preview. Vidyard keeps the original source file plus MP4 copies at lower resolutions; any of them will do.
Who can download
Paid plans only. On Teams and Enterprise accounts your team also needs the Download Videos permission.
Captions
Vidyard downloads the video and its caption file separately; the MP4 has no captions burned in.

Sometimes a link works. A public Vidyard share link can be pasted in the box above. A video that needs a sign-in or is gated behind a form has to be downloaded and uploaded as a file.

How it works

Three steps, the first one is the only one that takes any thought.

1

Copy the share link

In Vidyard open the video and copy its share link, or download the smallest MP4 from the edit page.

2

Paste it, or drop the file

Paste the link in the box above, or drop the MP4. A batch of prospecting videos can go one after another.

3

Read, then export

The summary and a preview are free. A pack opens the full transcript with TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON exports.

Good to know

What trips people up, and what to do about it.

Example. A four-minute product walkthrough shared from Vidyard was pasted as a share link and read without a download. The transcript comes back with the steps as chapters, a summary for the follow-up email and an SRT for posting the same video on LinkedIn.

What comes back

More than a wall of text.

The same four things for every Vidyard recording, whatever its length.

A transcript with timestamps

Every line carries its time. Click a line to hear that second again, or search a name or phrase and jump to each place it was said.

A summary, chapters and key quotes

A brief with the takeaways, chapters with their start times, and the quotes worth keeping. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

Questions answered from the recording

Ask where a topic came up or what was decided, and get the answer with the time it was said, instead of scrolling the whole text.

Every export

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON from the same transcript: a document to edit, caption files for video, plain text to paste, structured data for your own tools.

Pricing

Free preview. Packs from $6, and the minutes never expire.

Fifteen four-minute sales videos is 60 minutes, so the $6 pack (500 minutes) covers it 8 times over. Every recording gets a free preview and a summary you can read before paying; a pack opens the full transcript and every export. Packs are one-time purchases with no subscription and no seat fee.

Pick a pack to open secure checkout. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark). Full pricing

What we measured, last 30 days

2,547 recordings, 1,244 audio hours, 66 languages detected. An hour of audio came back in 3.5 minutes for half of the recordings and within 18.0 minutes for nine in ten, measured from the moment the file landed to the finished transcript. Refreshed 2026-10-07; method on how we test.

FAQ

Vidyard to text, answered.

How do I transcribe a Vidyard video?

Paste its public share link in the box on this page, or download the MP4 from the video's edit page and upload it. The transcript comes back with timestamps, a summary and SRT and VTT captions.

Why can I not download a video from Vidyard?

Downloading needs a paid Vidyard plan, and on Teams and Enterprise accounts your team needs the Download Videos permission. A public share link can be pasted here instead.

Can I get an SRT file for a Vidyard video?

Yes. Every transcript exports as SRT and VTT, timed to the video, ready for any player that accepts caption files.

Does a gated Vidyard video work as a link?

No. A video behind a form or a sign-in is not public, so it cannot be fetched. Download it as the owner and upload the file.

What does transcribing Vidyard recordings cost?

The preview and the summary are free. A pack opens the full transcript: $6 for 500 minutes, $8 for 1,000 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes, $24 for 5,000 minutes. Packs are one-time, credits never expire, and Workspace is $19 a month if you transcribe every week.

How long can the recording be?

One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; a larger file continues on the main upload page, which uploads it in parts. Most recordings come back in about two minutes per hour of audio.

Is the recording kept private?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete a recording and its transcript at any time.
