Ecamm Live · Mac recordings and isolated audio

Turn an Ecamm Live recording into text and captions.

Ecamm Live saves a full-quality recording of every broadcast on your Mac, and with Pro an isolated audio file per microphone. Drop either here and get the show back as a transcript with chapters for YouTube and SRT captions for the replay.

The file you have

What Ecamm Live leaves on your Mac.

Where it lands
A subfolder of your Movies folder, unless you chose another under Recording → Choose Recordings Folder. Shift-Command-R opens past recordings.
The recording
One full-quality video file per broadcast, saved automatically unless the Record toggle in the Mode menu is off.
Isolated audio (Pro)
Separate audio files for the primary and secondary microphones, sound effects and each guest. Isolated video is H.264 in MP4 or MOV and needs an Apple silicon Mac.
Markers
Markers added during the show are saved as a text file with timestamps beside the recording.

There is no link to paste for this one. The recording is a file on your Mac, so upload it here. If the show also went out to YouTube, the public video link can be pasted once the stream has finished.

How it works

Three steps, the first one is the only one that takes any thought.

1

Open your recordings

In Ecamm Live press Shift-Command-R, or open the Ecamm folder inside Movies in Finder.

2

Drop the file

Drop the recording, or for an interview the isolated track of the voice you want. Large files continue on the main upload page.

3

Read, then export

The summary and a preview are free. A pack opens the full transcript with TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON exports.

Good to know

What trips people up, and what to do about it.

Example. A one-hour Ecamm Live interview show recorded with two guests leaves the full video plus an isolated audio file per voice. Uploading the full recording gives chapters for each topic, quotes from each guest with their times, and an SRT for the replay on YouTube.

What comes back

More than a wall of text.

The same four things for every Ecamm recording, whatever its length.

A transcript with timestamps

Every line carries its time. Click a line to hear that second again, or search a name or phrase and jump to each place it was said.

A summary, chapters and key quotes

A brief with the takeaways, chapters with their start times, and the quotes worth keeping. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

Questions answered from the recording

Ask where a topic came up or what was decided, and get the answer with the time it was said, instead of scrolling the whole text.

Every export

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON from the same transcript: a document to edit, caption files for video, plain text to paste, structured data for your own tools.

Pricing

Free preview. Packs from $6, and the minutes never expire.

A one-hour live show is 60 minutes, so the $6 pack (500 minutes) covers it 8 times over. Every recording gets a free preview and a summary you can read before paying; a pack opens the full transcript and every export. Packs are one-time purchases with no subscription and no seat fee.

Pick a pack to open secure checkout. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark). Full pricing

What we measured, last 30 days

2,547 recordings, 1,244 audio hours, 66 languages detected. An hour of audio came back in 3.5 minutes for half of the recordings and within 18.0 minutes for nine in ten, measured from the moment the file landed to the finished transcript. Refreshed 2026-10-07; method on how we test.

FAQ

Ecamm Live to text, answered.

Where does Ecamm Live save recordings?

In a subfolder of your Mac's Movies folder by default. You can change it under Recording → Choose Recordings Folder, and Shift-Command-R opens your past recordings.

Can I get SRT captions for an Ecamm Live recording?

Yes. Drop the recording here; the transcript comes with SRT and VTT caption files timed to that recording.

Should I upload the video or an isolated audio track?

For an accurate transcript of one voice, the isolated microphone track; for the whole show with every guest, the full recording.

Does Ecamm Live transcribe recordings itself?

Ecamm Live records and streams; to get a transcript and caption files of a finished recording, upload the file afterwards.

The preview and the summary are free. A pack opens the full transcript: $6 for 500 minutes, $8 for 1,000 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes, $24 for 5,000 minutes. Packs are one-time, credits never expire, and Workspace is $19 a month if you transcribe every week.
