How Whipscribe prices against the alternatives
List prices for one hour of audio, read from each vendor's public pricing page on 5 September 2026
(the ChatGPT Realtime figures were checked on 8 May 2026). Different tools do different jobs, so the last row of each card says who it fits.
We compare the transcription bill only.

The honest read: raw developer APIs are cheaper per minute than our packs. With them you pay by the minute and build the uploader,
storage, speaker labels and viewer yourself, and your audio goes to that vendor. Whipscribe is the finished product at roughly the same
per-minute rate as OpenAI's API, with speakers, clips and chat included, credits that never expire, and audio that stays on our private cloud.
Workspace is the one monthly plan we sell: $19 whatever the volume, so past about 50 hours a month it is cheaper than any pack, and under that the packs win. The meeting-notes apps bill monthly whether you use the minutes or not. Google Speech-to-Text isn't listed because we couldn't read its
pricing page on the check date, and we don't print numbers we haven't verified.
Questions
How does Whipscribe compare to OpenAI, Deepgram, AssemblyAI, Otter or Rev?
On price per minute, raw developer APIs win: Deepgram is about $0.26 an hour, AssemblyAI $0.21, OpenAI’s transcription API and Amazon Transcribe $0.36 — the same $0.006/min as our $12 pack. What you get from them is minutes; you build the uploading, storage, speaker labels and reading experience, and your audio goes to that vendor. Whipscribe is the finished product: paste a URL or drop a file with no account, speaker labels included, clips and Claude chat on every transcript, an API and MCP server on the same credits, and audio that stays on our private cloud and is never sent to OpenAI or any third-party AI. Meeting-notes apps like Otter ($16.99/mo for 1,200 minutes) and Rev ($25.49/mo for 5,000) bill monthly whether you use the minutes or not; our packs never expire. Figures are list prices read from each vendor’s pricing page on 5 September 2026 — the comparison above links to every source.
Is my Claude chat private?
Yes. Your conversation is saved to your account, so you can close the tab and pick it up later, on any device. It is deleted when you delete the transcript, and when you delete your account. Only the transcript text and your messages go to Anthropic, per request, and Anthropic does not train on them. Your audio never leaves our servers.
Do credits expire?
Pack credits never expire — buy a pack today, use it a year from now, same minutes. Plan minutes roll over while you’re subscribed (you can bank up to 3× your monthly allowance); if a plan lapses, remaining plan minutes stay usable for 90 days.
Is this a subscription?
Only Workspace is. It renews monthly on your billing date, through Paddle, and you can cancel anytime from your credits page — it stays active to the end of the period you paid for. Every pack is a one-time payment and the credits never expire; nothing renews unless you buy again. The yearly option inside the pack cards is also a single payment.
What does unlimited mean on Workspace?
Unlimited transcription for one person: files, links and recordings of any length, through the site and through your own API keys, with no minute count. Fair use is 700 hours of audio per billing period — about 23 hours a day. Past that, new uploads are spaced out for the rest of the period; nothing is refused and nothing is charged extra. Chat and storage are unlimited for now. Bulk archives and automated pipelines at scale belong on a Business API plan.
I already have credits. What happens if I subscribe?
You keep them. While Workspace is active nothing is deducted from your balance; your credits and the subscription show separately on your credits page. If you ever cancel, the credits are still there, unchanged.
What happens if I cancel Workspace?
It stops renewing and stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Your transcripts, exports and audio stay in your library; from then on transcription runs on credits, like any pack.
What happens to my transcripts and audio?
Paid accounts: your library — transcripts, original audio, exports — is maintained for as long as you have credits or an active plan, and for 12 months after. Free accounts: we don’t warehouse data you’ve walked away from — files auto-delete 90 days after your last activity. We email you twice before anything is removed, and simply signing in resets the clock. Private by design, both ways.
Do packs auto-renew?
Never. Packs are a one-time payment. The yearly plan is also a single payment — you pay once for the year and 2,000 (or 5,000) fresh minutes are added to your account each month. No card-on-file, no surprise charges; when the year ends, renewing is your choice. Workspace is the one thing that renews, and it says so on the card.
How does the yearly plan work?
One payment covers 12 months. Your first 2,000 minutes (5,000 on Team) land immediately, and a fresh batch is added every month — unused plan minutes roll over, up to 3× your monthly allowance. That works out to $8/month on Pro — a third less than paying monthly.
Do you train AI on my audio?
Never. We don't use your recordings or transcripts to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any AI model — ours or anyone else's. Transcription runs on Neugence-owned GPUs; nothing is sent to OpenAI, Google, AWS, Deepgram, Rev, or any third-party AI provider.
What currency are these prices in?
All prices are in USD and Razorpay charges in USD. If your card is denominated in another currency, your bank converts at its published FX rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee; that's outside Razorpay's control. Indian cards can pay in USD via Razorpay's international-payments flow with no change on your side.
What happens to my file?
We keep your audio and transcript only as long as needed to deliver the job and let you retrieve it. Ask us to delete sooner at contact@neugence.ai.
What is portable memory, and how do I use it with ChatGPT or Claude?
Portable memory is a private memory you can talk to.
Your meetings, interviews, voice notes, trainings, and other recordings become part of one growing memory in
WhipScribe. Later, you can open ChatGPT, Claude, or another supported assistant and simply ask questions in your
own words:
- “What did we decide about this?”
- “What did that customer say about pricing?”
- “Remind me what I learned in that training.”
- “Find the exact moment where we discussed this.”
- “What has changed since our earlier conversations?”
You do not have to organize everything perfectly or remember which file something came from. WhipScribe keeps
the history, and your AI can talk with that memory when you need it.
It can also take you back to the original conversation, so you can see or hear the exact moment behind the
answer.
Your memory stays with you in WhipScribe, not inside one AI. Use ChatGPT today, Claude tomorrow, and keep the
same history.
Record once. Remember for years. Talk to it anytime.
