Upload the video or paste a link. The Untertitel come back in German — the words as spoken, not an English version — timed from word-level timestamps and ready for an editor or a platform. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page. A pack from $4 opens the full transcript · packs from $4 for 500 minutes.
How it works
The audio is read out of the video for you.
MP4, MOV or WebM into the box above, or paste a public link. Anything over 500 MB continues on the upload page.
Each word is timed and the cues are built from those times. Your first transcript opens in full at any length.
SRT for editors and platform uploads, VTT for web players, plus TXT, DOCX, MD and JSON from the same job.
Fitting the frame
The timing is done for you; the line breaks and trims are editorial decisions in a subtitle tool.
Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung is one word and most subtitle tools will not hyphenate it mid-word. A single noun can eat two thirds of a line, so aim below the usual 42-character target on compound-heavy dialogue.
The same scene generally needs more characters in German. Cues that fit an English version will not all fit here, so expect to trim or split a proportion of them.
Around 17 characters a second is the common ceiling for adult programming. Split a fast cue rather than letting the viewer catch half of it.
ä, ö, ü and ß are written into the file. Import and save as UTF-8 so they arrive intact, and remember Swiss usage prefers ss where German usage writes ß.
Sidecar or burned in
What you download is the sidecar file. Burning in happens in the editor.
SRT or VTT stays beside the video: switchable by the viewer, readable by a platform, and fixable without re-exporting the picture.
For permanent subtitles, import the SRT into Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, set the type there and render it in.
SRT and VTT carry words and timings. A panel discussion that needs names on screen gets them in the editor; JSON is where the speaker of each segment is kept.
Upload the soundtrack alone when the master is enormous. The timeline is identical, so the cues still line up against the picture.
Pricing
A pack from $4 opens the full transcript. After that, one-time packs: $8 for 1,000 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes and $24 for 5,000 minutes. Credits never expire.
A 25-minute Erklärvideo is $0.20 on the $8 pack. Twenty of them come to 500 minutes and still leave half the pack unspent.
FAQ
Yes. The file contains the German that was spoken. Nothing is turned into English: German video produces German cues.
Yes, at no extra cost. Every job exports SRT, VTT, TXT, DOCX, MD and JSON, so the same transcript serves a web player and an editing timeline.
Every word is timed against the audio and the cues are built from those word-level timestamps, so lines appear when they are spoken.
No. Numbered speaker labels appear in the transcript view on screen only. SRT and VTT carry words and timings; JSON keeps the speaker of each segment.
They are written as single words, the way German writes them. That is correct but it makes lines long, so plan on a lower character target when you set the line breaks.
Public video links are usually fetched and transcribed. Some sources refuse to hand over their audio, Spotify, Podbean and Kick VODs among them, and those need the file uploaded.
