What WhipScribe can see
Google's permission screen asks you to let WhipScribe see your Google Drive files. That access is read-only: it is what lets your folders appear inside WhipScribe so you can tick recordings. WhipScribe cannot edit, move, delete or share anything in your Drive, and it fetches only the files you tick.
The file stays Restricted the whole time. Nobody else gains access to it, and you can withdraw the permission whenever you like.
Folders and many files
Tick a folder and every audio and video file in it is transcribed, each as its own transcript, filed in a folder of the same name in your Library. This is also the way to transcribe a folder: a pasted Drive link has to point to a single file.
School and work accounts
If your school or company administrator blocks apps from connecting to Google accounts, Google shows a message instead of the permission screen. In that case, download the file from Drive and upload it to WhipScribe.
Disconnecting
Disconnect Drive any time under Library → Sources, or remove WhipScribe at myaccount.google.com/connections. Transcripts you have already made stay in your Library.
How to do it
- Sign in at whipscribe.com.
- Open your Library (whipscribe.com/library).
- Choose Add content, then Google Drive.
- Click Connect Google Drive, choose your account and allow access.
- Your Drive's folders appear: tick the recordings or a folder, or search by name.
- Start transcribing; each file appears in your Library as it finishes.
