Interview summary themes and exact quotes, with times
Short answer. Upload the interview recording or paste a link. Whipscribe writes a summary of the whole interview, key insights, word-for-word quotes with the time each was said, the questions the interview answers, and a short profile of each speaker. Every line links back to the transcript, so a quote can be checked before you cite it. A 45-minute interview uses 45 of the 500 minutes in the $4 pack.
Drop a file or paste a link to start, no signup. Every recording starts with a free preview of its opening minutes; a pack from $4 (500 minutes) transcribes the rest and opens every export.

User interview, small bakery owner, ordering software (38 min)
Thesis
The owner keeps paper order books because every app they tried made weekend pre-orders slower, not faster.
Summary
4:20 The owner takes about forty pre-orders each Friday, mostly by phone.
12:05 Two ordering apps were dropped after a month because staff could not edit an order once it was paid.
27:40 A shared calendar view of pick-up times matters more to them than online payment.
Chapters

4:20How orders come in today
12:05Apps tried and dropped
27:40What would make them switch
Questions this recording answers
12:05Why did they stop using the last app? Staff could not change a paid order, so every change meant a refund and a new order.
Record the interview with consent. A phone recorder, Zoom, Riverside or a field recorder all work.

Free and paid
What the free preview includes
Every recording starts with a free preview of its opening minutes; a pack from $4 (500 minutes) transcribes the rest and opens every export.
Pay for a recording and its summary, chapters and questions are always written from the whole transcript.
On a free preview, recordings of an hour or more, and recordings from many countries, get the summary too, with chapters and questions past the preview blurred until you open the rest. Otherwise the Intelligence tab shows the pack offer.
Nothing opens by itself: the pack offer is a card you can read or ignore.
Honest limits
What it will not do
A summary needs at least a minute of speech. In the 28 days to 26 October 2026, 206 of 977 recordings were too short, and 25 more had no usable speech (music, silence or a looping line); those get the transcript only.
A summary is written by an AI model from the automatic transcript. It can miss nuance or get a detail wrong, so check anything you will rely on against its timestamp.
Names in the summary and quotes are inferred from what people say. Check them before you publish.
Each interview is summarized on its own. Comparing themes across a whole study is still your analysis; the summaries make it faster to start.
Names in the summary and quotes come from what people say. If the interviewer never says a name, check who is who before you publish.
One file holds up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Nothing joins a live call; you upload the recording or paste a link.
The summary is text on the page; there is no spoken version.
Questions people ask first
Interview summary, answered
Can I get a summary of an interview recording?
Yes. Upload it, open the whole recording with a pack, and the summary, quotes and insights are written from the full transcript.
Are quotes word for word?
Quotes are copied from the transcript with the time they were said. The transcript is automatic, so listen to the moment before you cite a quote in print.
Can it summarize 20 interviews for a research project?
Each interview gets its own summary. Twenty 1-hour interviews are 1,200 minutes, which fits in the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
Is my interview used to train AI?
No. Recordings and transcripts are not used to train models, and you can delete a recording at any time.
