Meeting minutes from a recording decisions and action items, with times
Short answer. Upload the meeting recording after the call. Whipscribe transcribes it and writes a summary, timestamped chapters for each agenda item, key quotes and the names and figures mentioned. Ask for 'Action items & decisions' or 'Action items by person' and you get a list built from what was said. Nothing joins your call. A 1-hour meeting uses 60 of the 500 minutes in the $4 pack.
Drop a file or paste a link to start, no signup. Every recording starts with a free preview of its opening minutes; a pack from $4 (500 minutes) transcribes the rest and opens every export.

Free and paid
What the free preview includes
Every recording starts with a free preview of its opening minutes; a pack from $4 (500 minutes) transcribes the rest and opens every export.
Pay for a recording and its summary, chapters and questions are always written from the whole transcript.
On a free preview, recordings of an hour or more, and recordings from many countries, get the summary too, with chapters and questions past the preview blurred until you open the rest. Otherwise the Intelligence tab shows the pack offer.
Nothing opens by itself: the pack offer is a card you can read or ignore.
Honest limits
What it will not do
A summary needs at least a minute of speech. In the 28 days to 26 October 2026, 206 of 977 recordings were too short, and 25 more had no usable speech (music, silence or a looping line); those get the transcript only.
A summary is written by an AI model from the automatic transcript. It can miss nuance or get a detail wrong, so check anything you will rely on against its timestamp.
Names in the summary and quotes are inferred from what people say. Check them before you publish.
Formal minutes are a record your organisation adopts. Treat the output as a draft and check motions, votes and names against the recording before approval.
Get consent before recording; the law on recording meetings differs by country and state.
One file holds up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Nothing joins a live call; you upload the recording or paste a link.
The summary is text on the page; there is no spoken version.
Questions people ask first
Meeting minutes, answered
Can AI write meeting minutes from a recording?
It can write the draft: a summary, chapters per topic, and a list of decisions and action items from what was said. A person should still check motions, votes and names against the timestamps before the minutes are approved.
Does Whipscribe join my Zoom or Teams call?
No. Nothing joins your call. You record it with your own tool and upload the file, or paste a Drive link.
Are action items assigned to people?
When the recording names who will do something, the 'Action items by person' answer groups items under that name. If nobody says a name, the item has no owner.
What does a year of weekly meetings cost?
Fifty-two 1-hour meetings are 3,120 minutes, which fits in the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. Credits never expire.
Can I get minutes for a meeting in Spanish or Hindi?
Yes. Meetings in any of our 99+ languages are summarized in the meeting's language.
Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, iPhone, WhatsApp, Audible, LibriVox and other names on this page belong to their owners. Whipscribe is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.
