How to transcribe an all-day recording in one file, from first session to last.
Upload the whole day as one file if it is under 10 hours and 5 GB, or paste its link, and an 8-hour recording comes back in about 16 minutes with a chapter for each session. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
From recorder to transcript
A whole day fits in one file. Getting it there is the only trick.
Get the day under 5 GB
A whole day of audio is small: 8 hours of MP3 at 128 kbps is about 460 MB. A whole day of 1080p video is not, and is often far over 5 GB. Export the audio track from the video and the day fits easily, with nothing lost, because only speech is transcribed. Before a first pack or after, keep the upload under 5 GB, which an audio export of a day easily is.
Recorders that cut the day into clips
Many cameras and some recorders start a new file at a size or time limit, so a day arrives as a dozen clips. Join them in an audio editor into one file to keep one clock and one summary, or upload the clips as they are and get a transcript per clip; the minutes cost the same either way.
What the day turns into
Chapters follow the shape of the day: the welcome, each session, the panel, the closing remarks, each with its start time. The brief gives the thesis and takeaways of the whole day, the questions answered gather the Q&A from every session, and speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Silent stretches such as lunch simply produce no text.
Days longer than 10 hours
A recorder left running from 7 in the morning until 7 at night holds more than one file can take. Cut it at the lunch break or between sessions into two files of under 10 hours each. Note where the cut fell: part two starts at 00:00:00, so add the length of part one when you quote an afternoon time.
One file or a pile of clips
The day happened in one room. The transcript should read that way too.

FAQ
All-day recordings, answered.
Can I transcribe an 8-hour recording in one go?
Yes. It goes up as one file and comes back in about 16 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per audio hour. At 480 minutes it fits the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes.
What about a three-day event?
Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire. Upload one file per day for one clock and one summary each day.
How do I shrink a full-day video?
Export the audio track as MP3 or M4A in your video editor, or with a free converter such as VLC. A day of audio usually ends up well under 1 GB, which also clears the 5 GB file limit with room to spare.
The day was streamed. Can I use the VOD link?
Yes. Stream recordings over 6 hours start once a pack is on the account, so buy the pack first for a full-day Twitch, Kick or YouTube Live VOD, then paste the link.
Should I cut out the breaks first?
There is no need: silence produces no text. Minutes count the length of the file, though, so trimming a 90-minute lunch saves 90 minutes of credit if you want to bother.
Does it handle several languages, and is it private?
99 languages are detected automatically, and a day that switches language is detected on its main language. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
