Transcribe an Amharic community meeting and send the decisions to every member.
A community meeting held in Amharic in Israel, usually two to three hours of reports, discussion and decisions, is transcribed at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 2-hour meeting is text in roughly 4 minutes, with Amharic detected automatically. The first 20 minutes are free, and four 2-hour meetings, 480 minutes, fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes.
For committee secretaries
Members who could not come want to know what was decided. A recording alone does not tell them.
Plan one review pass
Amharic output is a fast first draft, so have one member who reads Ge'ez script go through it before it is circulated. The timestamps take the reviewer straight to any unclear line.
Decisions in a list
The brief collects the decisions and open points, and dates, contribution amounts and event plans spoken aloud are listed with timestamps.
Agenda points as chapters
Each part of the meeting, from the treasurer's report to questions from members, becomes a chapter, so the youth committee can read its own item without the rest.
Phone recordings are small
A phone voice memo at 64 kbps is about 58 MB for two hours and uploads in the box on this page. A video of the hall continues on the upload page.
How meetings are usually recorded
One phone on the table, and the file never leaves it.
✗ Recording only
The secretary records the meeting but has no time to replay two hours. Members hear different versions of what was agreed. Older members who do not use messaging apps hear the outcome second-hand, and newcomers have no record of earlier decisions to catch up on.
- No written record of decisions
- Members who missed it left guessing
- Tools with no Amharic option
- Notes taken while also chairing
- Disagreement over what was said
- Files stuck on one person's phone
✓ A draft to review and share
The meeting becomes Ge'ez-script text in minutes, ready for one review and then for the members' group. Older members can be given a printed copy, and newcomers can read the decisions of earlier meetings to understand what has already been agreed.
- About 4 minutes for 2 hours
- Decisions and dates listed
- Chapters at every agenda point
- Members who spoke named in the summary
- DOCX to correct and send
- A year of meetings on one pack

FAQ
Amharic community meetings, answered.
How quickly is a 2-hour meeting ready?
In about 4 minutes. A 3-hour general meeting takes around 6, since the rate is close to 2 minutes per hour of audio. A short committee session of 90 minutes is ready in about 3, and the public run of 9.31 hours in 1,033 seconds at /proof/long-files shows the pace on a very long file.
What does a year of meetings cost?
Twelve monthly 2-hour meetings are 1,440 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Four meetings, 480 minutes, fit the $6 pack of 500. Packs are one-time purchases with no subscription.
Members switch into Hebrew and English. Does that work?
The meeting is detected on its main language, Amharic, and English words inside it are handled. Hebrew words, such as names of offices and places, appear as heard, so the reviewer should look at those lines.
Is the text good enough to circulate straight away?
Treat it as a draft. One careful read by a fluent member fixes names and unusual words, and then the text is ready to send.
Can a long meeting stay as one file?
Yes. A file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB, and before a first pack uploads go up to 2 GB. Keep the break inside the recording rather than splitting it.
Who can read the transcript?
Only the account that uploaded it, until you share it. Meetings sent here are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. The draft downloads in TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
