Transcribe an Amharic church service so the sermon can be read during the week.
An Amharic-language church service recorded in Israel often runs three to five hours, and it is transcribed at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 4-hour service is text in roughly 8 minutes, with Amharic detected automatically. The first 20 minutes are free, and two 4-hour services, 480 minutes, fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes.
For church media volunteers
The service is long, the sermon is the heart of it, and members working Sunday shifts miss it.
A first draft, then one review
For Amharic the output is a fast first draft, so plan one review pass by someone in the congregation who reads Ge'ez script well. Correcting a draft takes far less time than typing four hours from scratch.
The sermon found in minutes
Chapters mark the readings, the sermon, the prayers and the notices, each with a start time, so the sermon can be pulled out of a long service without scrubbing through it.
Scripture said aloud, listed
Book and chapter references spoken during the readings and the sermon are listed with timestamps, together with dates and times from the announcements.
Long recordings, one file
A 4-hour service from a mixer recorder as uncompressed WAV is about 2.5 GB, so it starts once a pack is on the account; an MP3 of the same service is far smaller and goes through the box here. Very large files continue on the upload page.
Why the sermon stays on the recording
Four hours on Sunday, and nothing in writing by Monday.
✗ Without a transcript
The recording goes on a phone or a shared drive. Members who work weekends ask what the sermon was about and get a link to a four-hour video.
- No text of the sermon to share
- Hours of video nobody rewatches
- Tools that do not offer Amharic at all
- Scripture references lost in the recording
- Volunteers typing late into the night
- Long files that stop uploading
✓ With a draft to correct
The service is a Ge'ez-script draft minutes after upload, ready for one volunteer to review before it is shared. Members on weekend shifts read the sermon on their phones, and the reviewed text can go into the newsletter or the community group.
- About 8 minutes for 4 hours
- Chapters for readings, sermon and notices
- Scripture references listed
- The preacher named in the summary
- DOCX to correct and print
- Two long services on the $6 pack

FAQ
Amharic church services, answered.
How long does a 4-hour service take?
About 8 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes of processing per hour of audio. A 3-hour service takes around 6 and a 5-hour feast-day service around 10.
What happens to the hymns and chanting?
Sung hymns, chant and instrumental music are treated as music and are not transcribed; the speech is. The readings, the sermon, the prayers said aloud and the notices come through as text.
What does a month of services cost?
Four 4-hour services are 960 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Two services, 480 minutes, fit the $6 pack of 500, and twenty services, 4,800 minutes, fit the $24 pack of 5,000. The credits never expire.
Parts of the service are in Ge'ez, Hebrew or English. What then?
The service is detected on its main language, Amharic, and English phrases are handled in the same pass. Liturgical Ge'ez and Hebrew words come through as heard, so the reviewer should check those lines in particular.
Can we use it for subtitles on the service video?
Yes. Export SRT or VTT once the draft has been reviewed and attach it to the video; sung parts carry no captions because the music is not transcribed.
Is the recording private?
The service is transcribed on our own servers, and recordings are never used for training, so prayer requests and personal notices stay with the church. Formats on offer: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON.
