Transcribe French research interviews ready to code the same day.
A French-language research interview for a thesis or study in Canada usually runs 60 to 120 minutes, and a 90-minute entrevue comes back here as French text in about 3 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and twenty 90-minute interviews, 1,800 minutes, fit on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes, exported as DOCX that imports into coding software.
What the entrevue becomes
Ninety minutes of entrevue, ready to code the same day.
From recorder to DOCX
Upload the file from your recorder or phone on upload page; a 2-hour interview is one file. Download the DOCX and import it into the qualitative analysis program your project uses; most accept Word documents, but check yours.
Words as the participant said them
The transcript keeps the participant's words in French as spoken, and every passage carries its timestamp, so each quote in your thesis can be checked against the audio. Pauses, repetitions and false starts that matter for discourse analysis are worth checking against the recording at the passages you quote.
A first pass per interview
The brief gives each interview's main themes, the questions it answers and the names, dates and places mentioned: a first reading before line-by-line coding begins.
For your ethics file
Entrevues are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Remove the names you promised to anonymise in the DOCX before sharing it with the research team.
Why fieldwork stalls at the keyboard
Typing an hour of interview by hand takes hours, and a study has dozens.
✗ Typing it yourself
Each interview waits its turn at the keyboard.
- An afternoon of typing per entrevue
- Replays for every sentence
- Software that expects English answers
- Upload caps on long recordings
- A subscription for one fieldwork phase
- Quotes without timestamps
✓ Coding from the transcript
Every entrevue as French text, ready to import.
- Ninety minutes of entrevue in 3 minutes
- French detected automatically
- DOCX that imports into coding software
- Participant named in brief and quotes

FAQ
French research interviews, the common questions.
How long does a 90-minute entrevue take?
About 3 minutes; a 2-hour interview about 4, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. The finished text waits in your Library. Upload each interview as its own file, named with the participant code you use in your analysis, so the files line up with your coding scheme.
What does a whole French-language study cost?
Twenty 90-minute interviews total 1,800 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Thirty 75-minute interviews, 2,250 minutes, call for the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes, and a pilot of three 1-hour interviews, 180 minutes, fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. A grant budget can show one USD line, with no subscription.
Will the DOCX import into my coding software?
The DOCX is a plain Word document with the text and timestamps, which most qualitative analysis programs import; check your program's import options. TXT works where a plain text file is preferred.
Some participants answer partly in English. Does that work?
Yes. The interview is detected on its main language and switches between French and English are handled. Each of the two is on the list of 99 recognised without a setting.
Do I need to split long interviews or compress files?
No splitting below 10 hours. A file can be 5 GB with a pack, or 2 GB before one, which covers any recorder's interview audio. When a file is not accepted, converting it to MP3 is the usual fix.
Which exports are there, and what about my ethics approval?
Each entrevue exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Your research ethics board's conditions on where data may be processed come first; read them before uploading, and record the step in your data management plan.
