Transcribe a French university lecture from Canada, in French.

A French-language university lecture in Canada usually runs 2 to 3 hours, and a 3-hour cours comes back here as French text in about 6 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and a 12-week course of 2.5-hour classes, 1,800 minutes, fits on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.

What the cours becomes

A three-hour lecture in French, turned into text you can revise from.

The lecture with its break

A 3-hour class with a pause halfway is one file, not two. Upload the recording you are allowed to keep on upload page: your own audio where the course permits it, or the video the department posts for the class.

French stays French

A lecture given in French comes back in French; nothing is translated into English along the way. English terms the lecturer borrows are kept as spoken, so the text reads like the class did.

A chapter per section

Each time the lecture turns to a new section, a chapter opens with its start time. Before the midterm, the part on the second theory is one click away instead of an hour into the video.

Terms in a list

Definitions, authors cited, dates and formulas said aloud are listed beside the transcript. That list is a ready start for a glossary of the course or a revision sheet.

Why French lectures are hard to catch up on

Re-watching three hours to find one explanation costs an evening.

✗ Catching up from slides and memory

The slides carry the outline; the explanation was spoken.

  • Gaps where the lecturer spoke fast
  • Software built around English
  • Three hours of video to scrub
  • Files refused for their size
  • A monthly plan for a single term
  • Nothing to search before the final

✓ Catching up from the transcript

Each cours as French text, searchable by word. Two hours of reading replaced by ten minutes of searching.

  • Three hours of French in about 6 minutes
  • French picked up with no setting
  • A cours of up to 10 h or 5 GB
  • Professor named in the brief
  • Authors and dates pulled out
  • Minutes kept for next term

FAQ

French lecture recordings, the common questions.

How long does a 3-hour French lecture take?

Close to 6 minutes; a 2-hour one takes about 4. Speed is around 2 minutes per hour of audio whatever the language, and the result sits in your Library when it finishes.

What does a whole French course cost?

Twelve 2.5-hour lectures come to 1,800 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Two such courses in one term, 3,600 minutes, call for the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. Prices are in US dollars, and unused minutes carry over to the next term.

Will it handle French, and the English passages?

Automatic detection covers French, among 99 languages. A lecture that slips into English for a quotation or a technical term is detected on its main language, French, and the switches are handled.

The recording is over 2 GB. What then?

Until a pack is on the account, uploads go up to 2 GB; with a pack, a file up to 5 GB and 10 hours is accepted. Should the upload turn the format down, an MP3 copy goes through and is far smaller.

Am I allowed to record the class, and do I split it?

Follow the course's and the university's rules, and transcribe what the lecturer lets you record or download. Where the lecture is posted as video, use that file. Nothing under 10 hours needs splitting. If your faculty runs a lecture-capture system, take the download it offers when it offers one; a playback page on its own is not a file.

Which files can I download, and who sees the lecture?

A transcribed cours downloads in five formats: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings of your courses are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
