Transcribe a CEGEP class recording with notes before the next cours.
CEGEP classes recorded by students usually run 1 to 3 hours, and a 2-hour class in French comes back here as French text in about 4 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and a 15-week course meeting 3 hours a week, 2,700 minutes, fits on the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes with 2,300 minutes left for other classes.
What the class becomes
A class you recorded on your phone, turned into notes before the next one.
Phone recording, straight in
A Voice Memos recording from an iPhone is an M4A, and it uploads as it is on upload page; recorder apps on other phones save audio files that go in the same way. A three-hour block is a single file.
Instructions you missed
The brief lists what the teacher said about the next assignment: due dates, page numbers, what counts for marks. Those are the lines students most often miss while copying the board.
A chapter per topic
The class splits into chapters at each topic, with the minute it starts. Before the exam you open the explanation you need, not the recording from minute one.
Questions to the transcript
Ask the chat which examples the teacher gave for a concept and it quotes the passage with the time it was said.
Why phone recordings of class sit unplayed
A recording nobody has three hours to replay is a recording nobody uses.
✗ Keeping only the audio
Phones fill up with classes that are never played again.
- Three hours to scrub for one answer
- No way to search by word
- Notes copied in a hurry
- Apps that cap recording length
- A monthly fee for one term
- Group notes that disagree
✓ Keeping the text
Every class as French text you can search.
- A two-hour class back in 4 minutes
- Phone audio uploaded as is
- A class file of up to 10 h or 5 GB
- Teacher named in the chapters
- Due dates listed
- Credits kept between terms

FAQ
CEGEP class recordings, the common questions.
How long does a recorded class take?
A 1-hour class takes about 2 minutes, a 2-hour class about 4 and a 3-hour block about 6. The text appears in your Library when it is done, so the tab can be closed in the meantime.
What does a whole term of classes cost?
One course meeting 3 hours a week for 15 weeks is 2,700 minutes, more than the $12 pack holds, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes is the fit. A course of 1 hour a week, 900 minutes over the term, fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with room for a second one. Packs are one-time purchases in USD.
Can I record the class?
Ask the teacher first and follow your CEGEP's rules on recording; transcribe only what you were allowed to record or download. The teacher is named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters.
My recording is in French with some English terms. Will it cope?
No. French is one of 99 languages detected automatically, and a class that borrows English words or switches briefly is detected on French, its main language, with the switches handled.
Do I need to split a long block or compress the file?
Splitting is never needed below 10 hours, and phone audio is small: a 128 kbps recording of a 3-hour block is about 173 MB (128,000 bits × 10,800 seconds ÷ 8). Uploads go up to 2 GB before the first pack and 5 GB after. A file the upload will not take can be converted to MP3 and sent again.
Which exports, and is the class kept private?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON are all yours to download. Classes are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
