2 to 4 hour episodes · RSS or link · about 2 min per hour

Transcribe long podcast episodes for US shows that run past two hours.

A three-hour podcast episode is transcribed in about 6 minutes, and you can paste the RSS feed or the episode link instead of downloading the audio first. The first 20 minutes are free, and the episode uses 180 of the 500 minutes in a $6 pack. Long-form interview shows in the United States often run two to four hours, and that length is the ordinary case here.

What a long episode becomes

A four-hour conversation, cut into chapters you can paste into show notes.

Minutes, not an afternoon

Speed runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour. A two-hour episode is ready in roughly 4 minutes and a four-hour marathon in about 8. On the public proof page, a 9.31-hour file finished in 1,033 seconds, which is longer than almost any episode.

The feed is enough

Paste the show's RSS feed or one episode's link and the audio is fetched on our side, so nothing has to sit on your laptop first. If you would rather work from the master WAV or MP3 out of your editor, drop that file on this page instead.

A season, priced up front

A three-hour episode uses 180 minutes. Ten of them come to 1,800 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000. A weekly show at that length needs more over a year, and the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers about 27 such episodes.

Show notes start from the chapters

Each episode returns a brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates said on air, and the questions the conversation answers. Hosts and guests are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which is most of what a show-notes page needs.

Why long episodes stall elsewhere

Most transcript tools were sized for a 30-minute show.

✗ Built for short clips

A long-form interview show runs into the limits of tools that expect a file under an hour.

  • Cutting a three-hour episode into parts
  • The OpenAI Whisper API's 25 MB upload cap
  • Downloading audio before you can start
  • Show notes typed from memory
  • Timestamps lost when parts are stitched back
  • A monthly plan for a show that publishes twice a month

✓ One episode, one pass

The full episode goes in at once, from a file or straight from the feed.

  • A single file of up to 10 hours or 5 GB
  • RSS feed and episode links
  • Three hours of talk in about 6 minutes
  • Chapters that become show-note timestamps
  • Hosts and guests named in the quotes
  • Credits that never expire between seasons

Sample

A long interview episode, three hours in.

This sample is illustrative, written for this page rather than taken from a real show. The timestamps show how deep into a long episode each line sits.

00:04:20 Before we get into it, a quick note: we recorded this over two sittings, so you will hear the room change around the halfway mark.
01:12:45 The first version failed because we priced it for ourselves. Nobody outside that office would have paid it.
02:06:10 Let's take the listener questions now. The most common one was about what you would do differently.

FAQ

Questions about transcribing long episodes.

How long does a three-hour podcast episode take to transcribe?

About 6 minutes. Processing runs near 2 minutes for each hour of audio, so a two-hour episode is ready in about 4 and a four-hour one in about 8. Close the tab if you like; the finished episode is filed in your Library.

What does a four-hour episode cost?

Four hours is 240 minutes, which fits on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. The first 20 minutes of your first recording are free, and the pack transcribes the rest from where that preview stopped. Prices are in US dollars and the credits do not expire.

Does the RSS feed work in place of a file?

Yes. Paste the feed or a single episode's link and the audio is fetched for you; YouTube and Vimeo links work the same way. A file upload is fine too: up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file, and a file over 2 GB starts once a pack is on the account.

One recording session ran past 10 hours. What then?

Split it into two files at a natural break, such as the pause between segments, and send both. Each comes back with its own chapters and timestamps, and you can publish them as two parts.

Does it handle a guest who answers in Spanish?

99 languages are detected automatically. An episode is detected on its main language, so a show recorded mainly in Spanish comes back in Spanish. A long passage in a second language inside an English episode may come back less cleanly, so check it at its timestamp. Theme music and stingers are not transcribed; the speech is.

Which exports are there, and who hears the audio?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, all from the same run; SRT and VTT suit the video version of the episode. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
