Box download · up to 10 h or 5 GB · first 20 min free

Transcribe a long recording stored in Box by way of a plain download.

To transcribe a long recording kept in Box, download the file from Box and upload it here; a 4-hour recording is text in about 8 minutes, and one file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers all 240 minutes of a 4-hour file with 260 to spare. WhipScribe has no connection to Box itself, so nothing in your Box account changes.

From a Box folder to a transcript

Box keeps the recording safe. Getting the words out of it is a separate step.

Download, then upload

Open the folder in Box on the web, select the recording and choose Download, or open the file and use the download button in the preview. If Box Drive is installed, the file may already sit in the Box folder on your computer; make sure it is fully synced, not an online-only placeholder, before you pick it here.

Why a Box link will not work

A Box shared link opens a Box page, often behind your company sign-in, not a plain audio file we can fetch. Links we can read are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast feeds. For anything stored in Box, upload the file itself; a file bigger than this box accepts continues on the upload page.

Size and length limits

Each file may last up to 10 hours or weigh up to 5 GB, whichever limit it meets first. Before your first pack, uploads can be up to 2 GB; a larger file starts once a pack is on the account. A recording longer than 10 hours goes in as two files, cut at a natural break such as lunch.

What the board pack needs

Each long recording returns a brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates said aloud, and the questions it answers. People who spoke are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, so the person writing the record starts from a structure.

Why archived recordings stay unused

A four-hour file in an enterprise folder rarely gets played again.

✗ Stored and forgotten

The recording is retained for policy reasons, and nobody has the afternoon to listen to it.

  • Archived hours that never get a second play
  • A share link that needs a company login
  • Minutes rebuilt from handwritten notes
  • Nothing to search except the file name
  • Quotes checked by scrubbing the timeline
  • Questions answered by asking whoever attended

✓ Downloaded once, read many times

One upload turns the stored file into text the team can search and quote.

  • A four-hour Box file read in about 8 minutes
  • Opening 20 minutes free
  • 500 minutes for $6, one time
  • Chapters across the whole agenda
  • Figures, names and deadlines listed
  • DOCX ready to file back in Box

00:02:10 We have four hours booked, so we will take the regional results first and leave the hiring plan for after the break.
00:48:35 Renewals held up in the second half, but two large accounts moved their start dates into next quarter.
01:56:20 If both of those slip again, the forecast drops by roughly a tenth. I would rather plan for that now.
03:41:05 So the owners are agreed: finance redoes the forecast, the regional leads confirm dates by the fifteenth.

FAQ

Recordings in Box, the usual questions.

How long does a recording from Box take to transcribe?

About 2 minutes per hour of audio once the upload finishes. A 4-hour recording takes about 8 minutes and a 90-minute one about 3. The clock starts after the upload, so a large video on a slow connection spends most of its time uploading.

What will a four-hour file from Box cost?

A four-hour Box recording counts as 240 minutes. A first-time visitor gets the first 20 minutes free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes transcribes the whole file with 260 minutes left. Someone clearing a backlog of about thirty hours, 1,800 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000.

My file is several gigabytes. Will it go through?

Up to 5 GB per file, yes. Without a pack, the upload limit is 2 GB; a file between 2 and 5 GB starts once a pack is on the account. Above 5 GB, export the audio as an MP3, which is far smaller than the video.

Do I have to split a long recording first?

Only past 10 hours. Anything up to 10 hours or 5 GB goes in as one file, so a full-day workshop usually needs no cutting. Should the upload refuse a file, convert that file to MP3 and try again.

Can it handle recordings in other languages?

Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, so a recording in Japanese, Portuguese or Swedish needs no setting. When a recording switches language, it is detected on its main language.

Is a file from our company storage handled privately?

Your recording is transcribed on our own servers and never used for training, and you can delete it and its transcript whenever you choose. Your exports can be TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
