Transcribe a DJI Osmo Action recording the talk, the ride, the commentary.

A 3-hour talk or ride filmed on a DJI Osmo Action is ready to read in about 6 minutes, because WhipScribe works through about 2 minutes per hour of audio on files up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Your first 20 minutes are free, and the 180 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 320 to spare.

Camera card to searchable text

The camera was there for the whole talk. Now the words can be read without watching it again.

Getting the files off the card

On most Osmo Action models the footage lands on the microSD card under a DCIM folder, usually as MP4; some models also offer other formats, so look at the video settings if you are unsure. A card reader or the USB cable copies the clips to a computer. The small preview files that sit beside the video are not needed here.

Long takes arrive in pieces

Action cameras tend to split one long take into several numbered clips. Upload them in order and each returns as its own transcript with its own timestamps, or join them in an editor first and send a single audio track when you would rather have one timeline from the first word to the last.

Big video, small audio

High-resolution footage grows fast, often several gigabytes an hour. The box on this page accepts files up to 500 MB; anything larger carries on through the main upload page, still up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Exporting just the sound as a 128 kbps MP3 brings three hours down to roughly 175 MB.

Already posted somewhere?

If the ride or talk is already on YouTube, Vimeo or a shared Google Drive folder, paste that link instead of uploading anything. Nothing has to be downloaded twice, and the transcript, the brief and the chapters come back exactly as they would for a file.

Action footage, usually

A helmet camera catches every word of the briefing. Then the clips sit on a card for months.

FAQ

DJI Osmo Action recordings: what people ask

How long does a 3-hour Osmo Action file take?

About 6 minutes. Processing runs at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a single 1-hour segment is back in roughly 2.

What does a long talk cost?

The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit; a longer file is previewed, and a pack transcribes the rest from where the preview stopped. A 3-hour talk is 180 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Four such talks a month, 720 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 1,280 left. Packs are one-time and credits never expire.

One clip is over 2 GB. Will it go?

Before the first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB; once a pack is on the account, a file can be up to 5 GB. Sending the audio alone usually avoids the question entirely.

Does WhipScribe connect to DJI's app?

No. There is no integration with DJI's apps or cameras and nothing runs inside them. You copy the clips off the card, or paste a link where the video is already posted.

What if the footage runs past 10 hours?

Split it into two files of 10 hours or less, for example at a lunch stop, and upload both. Each returns with its own chapters and timestamps.

What comes back, and where is it processed?

A brief with the thesis and takeaways, timestamped chapters, the names, numbers and dates said, and a chat over the transcript, with exports in TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Files are transcribed on our own servers and never used for training.
