Transcribe recordings sent by Dropbox Transfer before the transfer expires.
When someone sends long recordings by Dropbox Transfer, download them from the transfer link and upload each file here; a 100-minute session is text in under 4 minutes. Five 100-minute focus groups make exactly 500 minutes, the $6 pack of 500 minutes, and twelve sessions, 1,200 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
Transfers that vanish
A transfer is a copy with an end date. The transcript should outlast it.
Not the same as a shared folder
Dropbox Transfer sends a copy of the files through a download link, and the sender can set when it expires. You do not need a Dropbox account to download. Save the files as soon as the email arrives; if several came at once, they may download as a ZIP to unpack first. Keep the original names, since a camera or recorder often numbers sessions in the order they were filmed, and that order is the easiest way to match each transcript to its group.
Link or file?
A Dropbox Transfer link opens a download page, which is not one of the links WhipScribe fetches. Upload the saved files: each one up to 500 MB through the box above, larger ones on the upload page, all within 10 hours or 5 GB per file.
Arithmetic for a study
Five focus groups of 100 minutes are 500 minutes, which is the whole $6 pack. A larger study of twelve sessions, 1,200 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes and leaves 800 for follow-up interviews.
What the researcher gets
Each session returns a brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the products, prices and dates participants mentioned, and the questions the discussion answered. Participants are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

FAQ
Dropbox Transfer recordings, answered.
Is this the same as a Dropbox share link?
No. A Transfer sends copies with an expiry; a shared folder points to files that stay in someone's Dropbox. Neither is a link WhipScribe fetches, so download and upload either way.
How quickly does a 100-minute session come back?
In a little over 3 minutes after upload, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. Five sessions uploaded together are done well within the hour.
What does a study cost?
Five 100-minute sessions use the $6 pack of 500 minutes exactly. Twelve sessions, 1,200 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. A first-time visitor gets the first 20 minutes free to check the result.
Do I need participants' consent?
Record only with the consent the law where you are requires, and keep the consent records with the study. WhipScribe works on the finished recording; nothing joins the session.
A session file is 2.6 GB. Will it go up?
It will after you buy a pack; until then uploads stop at 2 GB. The per-file ceiling is 5 GB or 10 hours.
How private are the recordings?
Focus-group recordings are transcribed on our own servers and never used for training. Delete the files and transcripts from your Library when the study closes.
