Focusrite Vocaster · exported episode · about 2 min per hour

Transcribe long podcast episodes recorded through a Focusrite Vocaster and get show notes from the same file.

A 105-minute podcast episode recorded through a Focusrite Vocaster is transcribed in about 3.5 minutes once you export it from your recording app as WAV or MP3 and upload it, or paste the episode's RSS or YouTube link, at up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Newcomers get the first 20 minutes free, and four such episodes, 420 minutes, fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes.

A podcast interface, a long conversation

The Vocaster handles the microphones. The episode itself lives in whatever app you recorded into.

Where the episode really is

A Vocaster is an audio interface, so it does not keep the recording itself; the file sits in the DAW or recording app you used, with Focusrite's own Hub software handling the mixer side. Export or bounce the finished episode to one file from that app; the menu name varies from program to program.

Choosing an export

A 16-bit, 48 kHz stereo WAV is about 691 MB an hour, so 105 minutes is near 1.2 GB. As a 128 kbps MP3 it is about 101 MB, which this page's box takes without trouble (it accepts files up to 500 MB). A very long WAV goes through upload page instead.

Already published

If the episode is live, paste its RSS feed or YouTube link; the audio is fetched for you and there is nothing to export. A whole back catalogue can be done this way, one episode at a time, which is handy for a show starting to publish transcripts.

Show notes from the transcript

Each episode returns a brief with thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps for the episode page, the names, numbers and dates mentioned, and the questions the conversation answered. Host and guest are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, so pull quotes for social posts are ready.

Podcast transcripts elsewhere

Recording a long episode takes an evening. Writing the show notes for it can take another.

FAQ

Focusrite Vocaster episodes, the common questions.

How long does a 105-minute episode take?

About 3.5 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 9.31-hour file finished in 1,033 seconds is shown on the proof page.

What does a season of episodes cost?

Four 105-minute episodes total 420 minutes and fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 80 left. Eighteen episodes, 1,890 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 110 left.

Should I export separate tracks or one mix?

One mix. A single file with both voices gives the transcript the whole conversation; a separate track per microphone would need its own upload and carries only half of it.

What if a live recording runs over 10 hours?

Export it as two files at a break. Each file up to 10 hours or 5 GB is transcribed in one pass.

Does it work for a podcast in Tagalog or Spanish?

Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically. Tagalog is among them; regional Philippine languages give a fast first draft, so plan one review pass.

Is there a Focusrite integration, and is the episode private?

No. Nothing connects to the Vocaster or its software; you export and upload, or paste a link. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
