Transcribe long recordings from Goodnotes the lecture behind your handwriting.
Audio recorded inside a Goodnotes note can be exported and uploaded here, and a 90-minute lecture comes back as text in about 3 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free; a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers that lecture, and a term of them fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
From the notebook to the text
Your notes catch the slides; the transcript catches every word the lecturer said.
Getting the audio out
Goodnotes keeps the recording attached to the page you wrote on. Look in the recording controls or the share and export options of your version for a way to save the audio as a file; the format depends on the version, so check the export settings. Save it to Files, then drag it onto upload page.
No plugin, nothing inside Goodnotes
WhipScribe has no integration with Goodnotes and adds nothing to the app. It works on the exported recording afterwards, the same way it handles any audio file from an iPad or iPhone.
The arithmetic for a term
Two 75-minute lectures a week for 12 weeks is 1,800 minutes. That fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 200 left over. A single 90-minute class is 90 minutes on the $6 pack, which leaves 410 for later.
Notes that match your pages
Each lecture returns with a brief of its argument, chapters stamped with the minute they start, and the names, figures and dates the lecturer said. Ask the chat what was said about the coursework and it answers from the transcript. Students who miss a class can be sent the text, where the lecturer allows sharing.
Lecture audio elsewhere
A recording trapped inside a note app is hard to search and slow to replay.
✗ Replaying the note
Scrubbing through a 90-minute recording to find one remark.
- Tapping strokes to hear a few seconds at a time
- No text to search when revising
- Tools that stop well before a lecture ends
- Cutting the audio into short pieces
- Lost place when the recording is long
- Hours of class audio nobody replays
✓ Exported and transcribed
The whole lecture as searchable text with timestamps.
- The full class in one upload
- Chapters you can match to your page
- About 3 minutes for 90 minutes of audio
- A file of up to 10 hours accepted
- Questions answered in a chat
- Opening 20 minutes at no charge

FAQ
Goodnotes recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 90-minute Goodnotes recording take?
Roughly 3 minutes: the work runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so 1.5 hours need about 3. On the proof page, a file of 2.48 hours was done in 200 seconds.
What does a lecture, or a term of them, cost?
The first 20 minutes are free on your first visit; a longer lecture is previewed, and a pack from $6 transcribes the rest from where the preview stopped. A 90-minute lecture uses 90 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack. A 1,800-minute term belongs on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes, at $0.36 an audio hour.
Is the exported file too large?
Lecture audio is rarely large. Any file up to 2 GB uploads before you hold a pack, and every file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB.
I recorded the lecture in two parts. Do they need joining first?
Upload both parts as they are, or join them in an audio editor first if you want one document with one clock. A lecture longer than 10 hours would have to be two files, which no class reaches.
Can I record a seminar or a call this way?
You can record your own lectures and notes. If you record a conversation or call, get the consent the law where you are requires before you start. The lecture can be in any of 99 languages, detected automatically.
What can I download, and who hears the lecture?
You can download the lecture as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and a deleted file takes its text with it.
