Cloud Storage bucket · download, then upload · not a Drive link

Transcribe long recordings in Google Cloud Storage a bucket is not a Drive folder, so download first.

To transcribe a recording in a Google Cloud Storage bucket, download the object from the Cloud console or copy it with gcloud storage cp, then upload the file here; a 2.5-hour webinar comes back as text in about 5 minutes. Its 150 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes, and thirty 75-minute webinars, 2,250 minutes, fit the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.

Same company, different product

Google Drive links we can fetch. Cloud Storage buckets we cannot.

Drive and GCS are not the same

A Google Drive share link pastes straight into WhipScribe and the file is fetched for you. A Cloud Storage object, even a public one at storage.googleapis.com, is not one of the links we take. If the recording also lives in Drive, paste that link; otherwise download it from the bucket.

Downloading from a bucket

In the Cloud console, open the bucket, find the object and use its download option. From a terminal, gcloud storage cp gs://your-bucket/webinar.mp4 . copies it down, and the same command with a folder path and the recursive flag copies many at once.

Uploading the copy

Webinar exports are usually MP4 with an audio track, which goes up as it is. Files up to 500 MB fit the box above; a bigger one continues on the upload page, still within 10 hours or 5 GB.

A backlog of webinars

Thirty webinars of 75 minutes come to 2,250 minutes. That is just past the $12 pack, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes is the right buy, with 2,750 minutes left for a year of new sessions.

Where webinar archives stall

Each webinar was recorded. None of them can be quoted.

  • A monthly plan for a backlog you clear once

✓ Replays with text

Download, upload, and every webinar has a brief and captions.

  • 150 minutes back in about 5 minutes
  • The questions the session answered, listed
  • SRT and VTT for the replay player
  • Chapters for the show notes
  • 2,250 minutes inside one $24 pack
  • Credits carried to next quarter

FAQ

Cloud Storage recordings, answered.

Can I paste a gs:// path or a storage.googleapis.com link?

No. Those are not links WhipScribe fetches. Google Drive share links are, along with YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick and podcast feeds. For a bucket, download the object and upload it.

How long does a 2.5-hour webinar take?

About 5 minutes after the upload completes, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A full 10-hour file takes around 20 minutes.

How should I price a year of webinars?

Add the minutes. Thirty 75-minute webinars, 2,250 minutes, fit the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. Twelve monthly webinars of 90 minutes, 1,080 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.

What about objects over 2 GB?

Before the first pack, uploads stop at 2 GB; after it, files up to 5 GB or 10 hours go up. Anything longer than 10 hours is split into two files.

Is the first part free?

The first 20 minutes are free for anyone transcribing here for the first time. A recording that long transcribes in full; a longer one is previewed, and a pack from $6 transcribes the rest from where the preview ended.

What happens to the recordings after upload?

Uploaded webinars are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Delete them from your Library whenever you want; the originals stay in your bucket.
