From the call log to a transcript

The Phone app files each recording under its call; sharing it out is the step that matters.

Finding the call in Recents

On phones where the feature is offered, a recorded call usually appears in the Phone app's Recents, under the details for that call, with a play button and a share option. Share it to Google Drive and paste the link, or save it and choose it on upload page. The file type depends on the phone; check the shared file's name if you need to know.

Consent before the first word

Recording a call needs the consent the law where you and the other person are requires. The Phone app usually announces the recording to both sides, and saying so yourself at the start keeps the agreement on the recording.

Ten long calls in a month

Ten 90-minute calls make 900 minutes, more than the $6 pack of 500 minutes holds, so they go on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes at $0.36 an audio hour. A single long call, even a 3-hour one, fits the $6 pack alone.

What you can do with it

The call returns with a brief of what was agreed, chapters at each change of subject, and every name, amount and date mentioned. Ask the chat what was promised about the delivery date and it quotes the moment. Both people on the line are named in the summary and key quotes.

Recorded calls, left alone

A recorded 90-minute call proves what was said only if someone can find the sentence.

FAQ

Google Phone call recordings, answered.

Why is there no record button on my phone?

Google offers call recording in the Phone app only on some phones and in some regions, and nothing on this site changes that. If the option is missing, a recording made another way, such as a speakerphone call captured on a second device, can still be uploaded here.

How fast does a 90-minute call come back?

In about 3 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes for each audio hour. A 20-minute call is done in well under a minute, and a 3-hour conference line in about 6.

What will my calls cost?

A first visit gives you the first 20 minutes free; a longer call is previewed and a pack from $6 transcribes the remainder. One 90-minute call fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes, and ten fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Packs are bought once, and the minutes you leave unused never expire.

Is there an app or add-on for the Phone app?

No. WhipScribe has no integration with the Phone app and adds nothing to your calls. It works afterwards on the recording you share out.

The call was in two languages. Does that work?

Yes. The main language is detected automatically from 99, and switching into another one partway through, such as English and Tagalog in the same call, is handled.

Which exports are there, and who can read my calls?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, from the same transcript. Calls are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete one with its transcript at any time.
