Samsung calls to text

Your Galaxy already records the call. Here it becomes something you can read.

Turn on recording

In the Phone app, the settings include a call recording section where you can record calls automatically or tap record during a call. The option only appears in regions where Samsung offers it, so its absence is not something a setting will fix.

Find the saved call

On recent One UI versions, recordings usually sit in My Files under a Recordings folder with a Call subfolder; older versions used other folder names. The Phone app's call recording settings also list recorded calls, and the files are usually M4A on newer phones.

Upload without a computer

Open this page in Samsung Internet or Chrome on the Galaxy, tap the upload box and browse to the recording. If the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first; most call recordings go straight up.

A long call, priced

A 200-minute call, say a long negotiation or a conference line, is 200 minutes of credit. With the first 20 free for a new visitor, the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers it and leaves 300 minutes.

Why auto-recorded calls pile up

Auto-record keeps every call. That is the problem when you need one.

✗ A folder of call files

Every call is saved, named by contact or number and time, and the folder grows by the week. The long one that matters is only searchable by ear.

  • Hundreds of files named by number
  • No text to search
  • Replaying three hours for one figure
  • Details argued over afterwards
  • Notes typed up from memory
  • No easy way to share what was said

✓ Each call as a document

Upload the long call, and it returns with a brief, chapters and a list of what was promised.

  • 200 minutes back in under 7
  • Both sides named in the summary and quotes
  • Dates and amounts picked out of the talk
  • Timestamps back to the right moment
  • A chat that answers what was agreed
  • DOCX ready to file or forward

Sample

A long recorded business call, as it comes back.

This sample is illustrative and invented for this page; it is not a real call. Supplier and buyer replace the names a summary would list.

FAQ

Samsung call recordings, the common questions.

How long does a Samsung call recording take?

About 2 minutes per hour of call. A 200-minute call is ready in under 7 minutes, and a 40-minute one in under 2.

What does a quarter of recorded sales calls cost?

Thirty hours of calls is 1,800 minutes, which is more than 500, so the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes fits with 200 to spare. A single 200-minute call fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Prices are in US dollars, one-time, with no subscription.

Do I have to tell the other person?

Recording a call needs the consent the law where you are requires, and that varies by country and state. Telling the other person at the start is the safe habit.

How big or long can the recording be?

One file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and up to 2 GB before your first pack. A call saved at 128 kbps is about 57.6 MB an hour (128,000 bits a second times 3,600 seconds, divided by 8), so the 10-hour limit comes first. Longer calls are split into two files.

Which languages can a Galaxy call be in?

99 languages, detected automatically, so a call in Korean, Portuguese, Afrikaans or Zulu needs no setting. English and Tagalog switches in one call are handled in the same transcript.

Is the call private, and what can I export?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete a call and its transcript from your Library at any time. The call downloads as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
