Transcribe a Google Slides recording from the link in your Drive.
A presentation recorded in Google Slides is saved as a video in your Google Drive, so paste its share link here and a two-hour recording is transcribed in about 4 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and 120 minutes uses part of the $6 pack of 500 minutes. WhipScribe is not connected to Slides; it fetches the Drive file the link points to, as long as the link opens.
From Slides to text
The recording already sits in Drive. The link is all the upload you need.
Find the video in Drive
Slides saves each recording as a video file in your Google Drive, and the recordings list inside the presentation opens it. Where exactly it lands can vary by account, so if you cannot spot it, search Drive for the presentation's name. Open the file's sharing settings and copy its link.
Make sure the link opens
School and work accounts often keep sharing inside the organisation, and a restricted link will not open for the fetcher. Either allow anyone with the link to view, if your rules permit it, or download the video, usually an MP4, and drop it on upload page instead.
Several takes, one folder
Long talks are often recorded in more than one take. Put the takes in one Drive folder and paste the folder link: each video becomes its own transcript, with its own chapters and timestamps, and naming the takes in order keeps them easy to follow.
What a term of Slides talks costs
Twelve recorded talks of 75 minutes each total 900 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers with 1,100 left over. A single two-hour recording uses 120 of 500 minutes on the $6 pack. Credits stay on the account and never run out on a date.
Where Slides recordings stall
Drive plays the recording back. It does not hand you the words.
✗ Watching it in Drive
A preview player is fine for one viewing, not for working from two hours of talk.
- Dragging the Drive player to find one answer
- Downloading, renaming and re-uploading every take
- A 25 MB ceiling on the Whisper API, under most recorded talks
- No written record of what the audience asked
- Numbers on the slides that the talk later corrected
- Takes scattered across a shared drive
✓ Working from the Slides transcript
A link pasted once, and the talk returns as text.
- One link per recording, or one per folder
- Chapters for each section of the deck
- The names, numbers and dates spoken, gathered
- Questions the talk answers, pulled out
- A chat that finds the line you half remember
- SRT or VTT for captions on the video

FAQ
Google Slides recordings, answered.
How fast is a two-hour Slides recording?
About 4 minutes once the Drive file has been fetched, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 30-minute take is ready in about one minute. Pasting the link also skips the wait of downloading and re-uploading a large video.
The link says access is needed. What do I do?
The link has to open for someone outside your organisation. If sharing is limited to your domain, download the recording from Drive and upload the file; files up to 2 GB go through before the first pack, and up to 5 GB once one is on the account.
Can I paste a whole folder of recordings?
Yes. A Google Drive folder link is read file by file, and each recording comes back as its own transcript.
What does a term of recorded talks cost?
A first visit includes the first 20 minutes free, and a pack picks up from where the preview ended. Twelve 75-minute talks, 900 minutes, belong on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. More than 2,000 minutes in a term calls for the $24 pack of 5,000.
Is there a Google Slides add-on?
No. There is no add-on, extension or Google Workspace connection; WhipScribe only reads the Drive video you link or the file you upload.
Which exports and languages are supported, and is the recording private?
The Slides talk exports to TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Speech in 99 languages is detected automatically, and speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The recording is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training.
