Transcribe a long GoPro MAX recording the guide's words, stop by stop.
A 4.5-hour tour filmed on a GoPro MAX is text in about 9 minutes once the footage or its audio is exported and uploaded, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, up to 10 hours or 5 GB a file. Your first 20 minutes are free, and the 270 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 230 left.
From 360 footage to a guidebook
The camera saw everything in every direction. What the guide said is what people want to read.
Export before you upload
In 360 mode the MAX usually writes its own file format that ordinary players cannot open. GoPro's desktop player or phone app can export it as a standard MP4; in its regular single-lens mode the camera usually records MP4 already. Menus change between versions, so follow GoPro's guide if yours differs.
Long tours become several files
GoPro cameras usually split a long take into chapters of a few gigabytes each. Upload them in order for one transcript per chapter, or join them in an editor and export a single audio file of up to 10 hours for one timeline with continuous timestamps.
Keep the upload light
360 footage is large; the speech is not. Four and a half hours as a 128 kbps MP3 is about 260 MB and fits the 500 MB box here. A full video export can be several gigabytes and continues on the main upload page, still up to 10 hours or 5 GB.
What the tour turns into
A brief of the route and its stories, chapters with timestamps for each stop, and the names, dates and figures the guide mentioned. Wind, traffic and crowd noise are left out; the speech is transcribed, and SRT is ready if the tour becomes a video.

Every stop on the tour is on the card. None of the stories are written down.

FAQ
GoPro MAX recordings, explained
How long does a 4.5-hour recording take?
About 9 minutes. Each one-hour chapter on its own takes about 2.
What does a season of tours cost?
On a first visit the first 20 minutes are free and the rest of a longer file is previewed. One 4.5-hour tour is 270 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Eight tours, 2,160 minutes, are more than the $12 pack holds, so they fit the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes with 2,840 left. Credits never expire.
Can I upload the .360 file?
Export it to MP4 or audio first. The native 360 format is usually only readable by GoPro's own software.
A chapter is over 2 GB.
Without a pack the cap is 2 GB a file; with one it rises to 5 GB. Exporting only the audio usually keeps every file small.
Is WhipScribe connected to GoPro's app or cloud?
No. There is no GoPro integration and no plugin. You export and upload, or paste a YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive link once the tour is posted.
What about privacy and languages?
Tour footage is transcribed on our own servers and never used for training. A tour in any of 99 languages is detected automatically. The brief, the chapters and the chat all work on the transcript, so a guide can ask which stop mentioned a given date and jump straight to it.
