One meeting, several languages

A multilingual meeting is really several recordings. Transcribe the ones you need.

What a KUDO recording can hold

Depending on how the meeting was set up, a KUDO recording may hold the floor audio, the interpreted language channels, or a mix. Organisers usually get recordings after the session from the platform or their KUDO contact; the file is usually an MP4 or an audio file, but check the export options before you plan the work.

One channel per file

Upload the floor and each interpreted channel as separate files, named by language. Each one is detected on its own language, so the Spanish channel comes back in Spanish and the Arabic channel in Arabic. A floor that switches language is detected on its main language, which is why separate channels give the cleaner text. Files over 500 MB continue on the main upload page.

The meeting, priced

A 3-hour meeting is 180 minutes of floor audio, inside the $4 pack of 300.

Floor or interpretation?

Quote from the floor. An interpreted channel is the interpreter's rendering, excellent for reading in your own language and for a summary, but not the delegate's own words. Each file returns with a brief, chapters with timestamps, and the names, figures and dates said; speakers are identified and named in the summary and key quotes.

After a multilingual session

Delegates heard the meeting in their own language. The record should match.

✗ One mixed recording

A long file where the floor and the interpreters overlap, and nobody is sure which language to read.

  • Minutes written from one language only
  • Interpreted wording quoted as if it were the speaker's
  • A secretariat waiting days for a draft
  • Delegates asking for the text in their language
  • Decisions hard to find in three hours of audio
  • No captions for the published replay

✓ A transcript per channel

The floor for the record, each channel for its readers.

  • About 6 minutes for each 3-hour file
  • Each channel in its own language
  • Speakers named in the summary and key quotes
  • Chapters for each agenda item
  • Decisions, dates and figures listed
  • SRT and VTT for the replay in each language

00:54:10 Thank you, Chair. Our delegation supports the proposal, with one change to the timeline.
00:54:31 Could you say which date you would propose instead?
00:54:40 The end of March rather than January, so national consultations can finish first.
00:55:05 Noted. I see two more requests for the floor on this point.
00:55:18 We would accept March, provided the progress report still comes in January.

FAQ

KUDO recordings, answered.

Does WhipScribe connect to KUDO?

No. There is no KUDO integration and no bot joins the meeting. The organiser obtains the recording after the session and uploads it here, channel by channel.

Should I transcribe the floor or the interpretation?

For the record and for quotes, the floor. For readers who need the meeting in their language, the interpreted channel is a fast route. Many secretariats do both: the floor for minutes, one channel per working language for distribution.

What happens if the floor switches language?

The recording is detected on its main language, and English terms inside another language are handled. For a floor that moves between two languages often, an interpreted channel in one language gives cleaner text to read.

How much does a multilingual meeting cost?

Every recording starts with a free preview of its opening minutes; a longer file is previewed, and a pack from $4 transcribes the rest from where the preview ended. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.

How big can each file be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Uploads up to 5 GB go through with or without a pack; a larger file needs splitting or an audio export. An audio-only channel export is far smaller than video.

Is the audio kept or used for training?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, and recording any meeting needs the consent the law where you are requires.
