Transcribe long interview sequences from Lightworks for selects, subtitles and the paper edit.
Export the Lightworks sequence, usually as an MP4 or an audio file, and upload it here; a 3.5-hour interview sequence is transcribed in about 7 minutes. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Sequence to script
A long interview cut in Lightworks becomes a document you can mark up, search and quote with timestamps.
Export the sequence
Use the export option on the sequence and choose an H.264 or MP4 preset, or an audio format if your version lists one; the formats available depend on your licence and version, so check the export panel. Export the whole sequence in one go so the transcript follows it end to end.
Mind the starting timecode
Transcript timestamps count from the start of the exported file, not from the sequence timecode. If the sequence begins at 01:00:00:00, add one hour when you look up a line, or export with a burnt-in timecode for reference.
Sizes for 3.5 hours
A 48 kHz 16-bit stereo WAV is about 691 MB an hour, so 3.5 hours runs about 2.4 GB, inside the 5 GB one file can be. Exported in mono, it is about 1.2 GB. Anything above this page's 500 MB box continues on the upload page, up to 5 GB.
A series of interviews
Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire. Each comes back with chapters, key quotes, the names, figures and dates mentioned, and a brief with the thesis and takeaways.
Long interviews, no transcript
The sequence is assembled, and finding the answer you need still means playing three and a half hours.

FAQ
Lightworks sequences, the questions editors ask.
How long does a 3.5-hour Lightworks sequence take?
About 7 minutes once the file is up, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. Uploading an audio export is much quicker than a full video file.
Will the transcript match my sequence timecode?
Timestamps start at zero with the exported file. If your sequence starts at a different timecode, add the offset when you look up a line.
What does a run of interviews cost?
The opening minutes are a free preview, and a longer sequence is previewed until a pack transcribes the rest from the point the preview ended. Nine 3.5-hour interviews are 1,890 minutes, inside the $18 pack of 3,000. Packs are one-time, never a subscription.
Is WhipScribe built into Lightworks?
No. There is no integration or plugin; you export the sequence and upload it. A finished cut on YouTube or Vimeo can be pasted as a link instead.
What if the export is over 2 GB or 10 hours?
A file up to 5 GB uploads with or without a pack on the account. A sequence longer than 10 hours goes up as two exports.
Where is the footage processed?
The footage is transcribed on our own servers and never used for training. You can download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, and the interview's language is detected automatically from 99.
