LumaFusion export · usually MP4 or MOV · 5 GB

Transcribe long LumaFusion edits straight from the iPad you edited on.

Export the LumaFusion project as a video, usually an MP4 or MOV, or as audio if your export options include it, then upload it from the same iPad or iPhone; a 2-hour lecture is transcribed in about 4 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit, and the lecture takes 120 minutes of the $6 pack of 500 minutes.

From the iPad to text

The whole edit happened on a tablet, so the transcript can start there too.

Export where you can find it

Open the export or share option, choose a movie export, and send it to Photos or to a folder in Files. Some versions also offer an audio-only export; check the export options. A smaller resolution such as 720p is plenty when the point is the speech, and it exports faster on an older iPad. Export the whole lecture as one movie rather than one per section, so the timestamps follow the lecture from its first minute.

Upload from the same device

In the browser on the iPad, tap the upload box and pick the file from Photos or Files. The box here takes up to 500 MB; a larger export continues on the upload page, up to 5 GB. Keep the tab open until the upload completes, then the transcript is ready in minutes.

A term of lectures

Fourteen lectures of 2 hours are 1,680 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 320 left. A single lecture uses 120 minutes of the $6 pack, and leftover credits never expire.

Study notes with times

Each lecture returns a brief with the main argument and takeaways, chapters with timestamps for each topic, the dates and figures said, and the questions the lecture answers. The chat over the transcript lets you ask where a term was defined. Speakers are named in the summary and the key quotes when a guest lecturer takes part.

Long edits on a tablet

A two-hour lecture lives on the iPad, and the notes from it are still in your head.

00:38:51 Write this down: the efficiency can never reach one, and the reason is in the second term.
01:13:09 Let's take five minutes. When we come back, I will work through the exam question from last year.
01:56:40 Reading for next week is chapter seven. Office hours are on Thursday afternoon.

FAQ

LumaFusion edits, answered.

How long does a 2-hour LumaFusion lecture take?

About 4 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per audio hour. Upload time on a phone connection depends on the file size, so a 720p or audio export helps.

What does a term of lectures cost?

A new visitor has 20 free minutes; past that, the lecture is previewed and a pack transcribes what remains. One 2-hour lecture is 120 minutes of the $6 pack; fourteen fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.

Can I upload a large file from an iPad?

Yes, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Before a pack is on the account files up to 2 GB start right away, and a larger one starts once a pack is there.

Is WhipScribe part of LumaFusion?

No. There is no integration or plugin; you export the file and upload it. If the lecture is already on YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive, paste the share link instead.

Does it work for a lecture in Swedish or Hebrew?

Yes. Both are among the 99 languages detected automatically, and English technical terms in the speech are kept.

What do I download, and is the recording private?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, all from the iPad. Lectures are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
