Transcribe long recordings made with an OBSBOT webcam the file your recording app saved.
An OBSBOT webcam sends video to an app on your computer, and that app, whether OBS Studio, Zoom or another, is what saves the recording file. Upload that file and a 3-hour class or meeting is text in about 6 minutes, with the first 20 minutes free and the remaining 160 on the $6 pack of 500 minutes.
Where a webcam recording comes from
The camera tracks the speaker; the software on the computer writes the file. Find that file and send it.
Find the app's file
OBS Studio saves to the folder set in its Output settings, as MKV or MP4. A Zoom local recording usually lands in a Zoom folder inside Documents. Other apps have their own save location, so check the app's recording settings.
An MKV from OBS
If the upload refuses an MKV, use Remux Recordings in the OBS File menu to turn it into an MP4 without re-encoding, or convert it to MP3 first. Either way the words are the same.
Size over a long class
OBS at 6,000 kbps writes about 2.7 GB an hour (6 divided by 8, times 3,600), so a 2-hour class at that setting is about 5.4 GB, just over the 5 GB limit. Export the audio as MP3 at 128 kbps and the same class is about 115 MB.
A semester online
Twenty-eight online classes of 2 hours are 3,360 minutes. That needs the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes, which leaves 1,640 for office hours and review sessions. Each class returns with a brief, chapters with timestamps and the dates and figures the teacher gave.
Webcam recordings elsewhere
Long screen-and-webcam recordings grow fast and hit limits early.

FAQ
OBSBOT webcam recordings, the common questions.
How fast does a 3-hour webcam recording come back?
In about 6 minutes; each audio hour takes around 2. On the proof page, a recording of 2.48 hours was transcribed in 200 seconds.
What does a class, or a semester, cost?
Your first visit comes with 20 minutes free. A 3-hour class is 180 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Twenty-eight 2-hour classes, 3,360 minutes, belong on the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.
Does the webcam itself save a recording?
The recording is made by the app on the computer, so look there. WhipScribe has no link to the camera or the app; you upload the file the app saved.
The file is larger than 2 GB. Will it upload?
Up to 2 GB uploads before a pack, and larger files start once a pack is on the account, up to 5 GB or 10 hours each. An audio export keeps a long class small.
Can the class be taught in another language?
Any of 99, recognised from the audio without a setting. A class taught mostly in one language with a few terms in another is detected on the main language.
What comes back, and who sees the class?
One pass gives TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON for notes and captions. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and a deleted file takes its transcript with it.
