Transcribe Olympus DS-9000 dictations a week of DS2 files, typed before lunch.
Three hours of Olympus DS-9000 dictation become text in about 6 minutes once the DS2 files are copied off the recorder, converted to MP3 if the upload refuses them, and uploaded. An author who dictates 90 minutes a day fills 450 minutes in a five-day week, inside the $6 pack of 500, and the first 20 minutes of a first upload are free.
DS-9000 to typed draft
The DS-9000 is built to feed a dictation workflow. This page is for the day the typing pool cannot keep up.
Copying the dictations out
The DS-9000 saves dictations as DS2, the DSS Pro format, in folders on the recorder. With the recorder on USB or in its cradle, the dictation software usually downloads them to a folder on the computer; you can also copy them from the recorder as a drive. Take copies so the originals stay where your workflow expects them.
When DS2 is refused
A general upload may not read DS2. If the box turns the file down, convert it to MP3 or WAV with the conversion your Olympus software offers, where your edition has one. The box here takes 500 MB; anything bigger goes through the main upload page, up to 5 GB. An encrypted dictation needs its password before it can be converted.
A dictation month in minutes
Ninety minutes a day for five days is 450 minutes, inside the $6 pack of 500. Over a 22-day month the same habit makes 1,980 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 covers with 20 left. Credits never expire, so a quiet month carries into a busy one.
What the typist receives
A draft with a chapter at each letter, memo or note, timestamps to check a word against the audio, and a list of the names, reference numbers, dates and amounts dictated. It is an AI transcript to work from, not a certified transcript and not legal advice, so it is read before it is signed.

FAQ
Olympus DS-9000 dictations, answered.
How long does three hours of DS-9000 dictation take?
About 6 minutes after the upload ends, at roughly 2 minutes for each hour of audio. A single five-minute letter is back in seconds.
Will the upload take a DS2 file as it is?
Possibly not. DS2 is a dictation format, so if the box refuses it, convert the file to MP3 or WAV in your Olympus software first and upload that copy.
Is WhipScribe connected to the Olympus dictation software?
No. There is no integration with the DS-9000, its docking station or the Olympus software. You copy or convert the file, then upload it.
How far do the packs go for one author?
A 90-minute daily habit uses 450 minutes a week, inside the $6 pack of 500, and 1,980 in a 22-day month, inside the $12 pack of 2,000. Two authors dictating the same amount fit the $24 pack of 5,000 for a month.
Is there a size or length cap?
Any one file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before a first pack, files over 2 GB wait until a pack is on the account. Dictation files are small, so this rarely matters.
Can I dictate in French or with Latin phrases?
Yes. Detection covers 99 languages with no setting, and Latin or English terms inside the dictation are handled. Dictations are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
