Omny Studio feed · 3-hour show in about 6 min · speech only

Transcribe Omny Studio shows the whole broadcast, not just the clips.

A full radio show published through Omny Studio usually runs 2 to 3 hours, and a 180-minute programme comes back as text in about 6 minutes from its RSS feed. The first 20 minutes are free, and one show fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Music between segments is left out; presenters, guests and callers are what get transcribed.

What a full-show recording becomes

Three hours of broadcast talk, searchable by segment.

From the station's feed

Stations that publish their programmes on Omny Studio give each show an RSS feed for podcast apps. Paste that address and the full-show episode is fetched for you; a show that has not been published yet can go in as the exported file.

Segments, not a scroll

A breakfast or drive-time show is a string of segments: news, an interview, a phone-in, a competition. The chapters split those out with start times, so the producer finds the interview without listening through the songs.

Callers and guests in the brief

Presenters and studio guests are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Callers on a phone line are thinner audio, so read their lines against the recording before quoting them on air.

A week of shows on one pack

Five weekday shows of 180 minutes come to 900 minutes, which sits on the $12 pack of 2,000 with 1,100 to spare. A station transcribing several programmes every week may prefer the $19/month Workspace instead.

Why full radio shows are hard to transcribe

A three-hour programme mixes talk, music and phone lines.

✗ Done the usual way

Someone listens through, notes times by hand and types out the interview worth keeping.

  • Three hours of playback to find ten minutes
  • Song lyrics typed into the transcript
  • Callers' answers lost in the notes
  • An upload cap below a single show
  • Segment times guessed from a log sheet
  • No text to search last month's shows

✓ Sent here instead

One feed or one file, and the whole programme is text with segment times.

  • About 6 minutes for a 180-minute programme
  • Songs and jingles left out of the text
  • Chapters marking news, interview and phone-in
  • Studio guests named in the summary and quotes
  • SRT and VTT for any video version
  • Every past show searchable

00:06:42 Good morning, it is just after six. Roads are slow on the bridge, and we have the mayor at half past seven.
01:31:20 The rates rise is smaller than last year, but I accept it still hurts.

01:58:30 Hi, I just wanted to say the bus timetable change has made my mornings longer.

FAQ

Omny Studio shows, the common questions.

How quickly does a 3-hour show come back?

In about 6 minutes, since a recording takes roughly 2 minutes per audio hour. A 9.31-hour file completed in 1,033 seconds, as shown on /proof/long-files.

What does a station's week of shows cost?

One 180-minute show fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes, leaving 320. Five a week is 900 minutes on the $12 pack of 2,000; a month of weekday shows, about 3,600 minutes, belongs on the $24 pack of 5,000.

Does music in the show cost transcription time?

Songs, jingles and beds are not turned into text; the speech around them is. The chapters show where talk starts again after each music break.

Can a four-hour special go in as one file?

Yes. A single recording can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and before the first pack an upload can be up to 2 GB, which a 4-hour MP3 at 128 kbps (about 230 MB) clears easily.

Do shows in other languages work?

Each show's language is detected automatically from 99. A bilingual programme is detected on its main language and the switches inside it are handled.

Which exports come out, and is the audio kept private?

Every show exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Station shows are transcribed on our own servers and never used for training, which matters for an unaired interview.
