Transcribe a long RØDE Wireless ME interview recorded on a phone or a camera.
A 90-minute interview recorded with a RØDE Wireless ME is text in about 3 minutes once the phone video, camera clip or on-board file is uploaded, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio and up to 10 hours or 5 GB a file. The first 20 minutes are free, and the 90 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 410 left.
From the clip-on mic to the page
A small mic on a collar, a phone on a stand, an hour and a half of conversation. All of it can be read.
Where the sound was saved
The receiver plugs into a phone or a camera, so most interviews end up inside that device's video file. The transmitter can also keep an on-board copy when recording is enabled; RØDE's own software or app exports it, so follow the steps in RØDE's guide for your firmware.
Sending it from the phone
Open this page on the phone and choose the video from your gallery or files. A 90-minute phone video can run past a gigabyte; the box here takes up to 500 MB, and the main upload page carries larger files, up to 10 hours or 5 GB. A Google Drive share link works too.
Before you press record
Recording someone needs the consent that the law where you are requires, so ask and keep their yes in the recording itself. It also gives the transcript a clean opening: who is speaking, the date and what the conversation is about.
What comes back
A brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names and numbers said, and a chat you can ask about the interview. The guest is named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and the export menu has TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON.
Phone interviews, usually
The phone recorded it perfectly. Turning ninety minutes into quotes still takes an evening.
✗ Usually
A good interview, stuck in a gallery.
- A long video too big to email
- Free minutes gone in the warm-up
- Quotes typed while pausing
- The best line lost in the middle
- Different spellings of one name
- Nothing to search a week later
✓ Here
The conversation as text.
- About 3 minutes for 90 minutes
- Phone video uploads as it is
- Quotes with their timestamps
- Chapters by topic
- Names and figures pulled out
- Captions ready as SRT

FAQ
RØDE Wireless ME recordings: the questions
How long does a 90-minute interview take?
About 3 minutes. A 3-hour recording would take about 6.
What does a podcast or interview series cost?
Your first visit includes 20 free minutes and a preview of anything longer. One 90-minute interview uses 90 minutes of the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Twenty of them, 1,800 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 200 left. Credits never expire.
My phone video is over 2 GB.
Files up to 2 GB upload before the first pack; with a pack, files up to 5 GB go. Sharing the video to Google Drive and pasting the link also works.
Which file is better, the phone or the on-board copy?
Whichever sounds clearer. The on-board copy is audio only and much smaller; the phone video is easier to find. The transcript is the same either way when the sound is good.
Is there a RØDE integration?
No. WhipScribe does not connect to RØDE's apps or hardware, and no bot runs inside them. You upload the file or paste a link. That also means nothing has to be installed on the phone or the camera to get a transcript.
Is the interview kept private?
It is transcribed on our own servers and never used for training. Delete the recording and its transcript whenever you are done.
