Transcribe long recordings from SermonAudio sermons and whole conferences as text.
To transcribe a SermonAudio sermon, download the MP3 the broadcaster makes available and upload it: an hour-long message comes back as text in about 2 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, a single sermon fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes, and a 10-session conference of 600 minutes belongs on the $12 pack of 2,000.
From the archive to the page
An MP3 from the sermon archive is exactly the file this reads best.
The MP3 you download
SermonAudio lists many sermons with an MP3 download where the broadcaster allows it. Save the file and drop it here; nothing needs converting. WhipScribe has no SermonAudio link or account connection, so a sermon without a download option stays with its broadcaster.
Whose sermon it is
Each sermon belongs to the church or preacher who published it. Transcribe your own church's messages, or ones you have permission to quote and reuse. A personal study copy is a different thing from republishing the text, so ask before you post a transcript.
Why the files are small
Sermon audio is often published at a low bitrate. At 64 kbps an hour is 64 × 3,600 = 230,400 kilobits, roughly 29 MB, so even a 6-hour conference day stays under 200 MB. Only the OpenAI Whisper API's 25 MB limit would stop such a file; here a single file can reach 5 GB.
Conferences and long archives
Ten 60-minute conference sessions come to 600 minutes, past the $6 pack, so the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers them with 1,400 left. A broadcaster transcribing a back catalogue of 200 sermons at 50 minutes each (10,000 minutes) buys two $24 packs of 5,000.
Studying sermons by ear
Rewinding a sermon to catch a reference costs more time than the sermon.
✗ Listening without text
Good preaching that is hard to quote accurately.
- Rewinding to catch a verse reference
- Handwritten notes from a long conference
- Quotes that drift with each retelling
- Tools that refuse a 3-hour session
- Splitting files to fit a free tier
- No way to search a whole series
✓ Sermons you can search
The message as text, with times to go back to.
- The MP3 as it came from the archive
- About 2 minutes per hour of preaching
- A chapter for every point the preacher makes
- Verses and dates collected in the brief
- Chat to ask where a theme appears
- DOCX to print for a study group

FAQ
SermonAudio recordings, the common questions.
How long does an hour-long sermon take?
About 2 minutes. Allow around 12 minutes for a 6-hour conference day. The proof page shows a 9.31-hour file done in 1,033 seconds, a little over 17 minutes.
What does a conference or a back catalogue cost?
The first 20 minutes are free the first time you visit. One sermon fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. A 600-minute conference belongs on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes at $0.36 an audio hour, and a 10,000-minute archive on two $24 packs of 5,000.
Can I paste a SermonAudio link?
A page link is not read. If the broadcaster offers a podcast or RSS feed, paste that; otherwise download the MP3 and upload it.
What if one conference session is very long?
A single file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB. Files up to 2 GB upload before a pack, and larger ones start once a pack is on the account. Anything past 10 hours goes in as two files.
Which languages can the sermon be in?
99 languages, detected automatically, so sermons in Spanish, Portuguese, Korean or Afrikaans work without a setting. A message that quotes another language is detected on the main one.
What files come back, and who hears the sermon?
A sermon comes back as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON files. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
