Transcribe long lectures recorded on a phone with a Shure MV88+ from the phone's app to a revision document.
A 2-hour lecture recorded on an iPhone or Android phone with a Shure MV88+ comes back as text in about 4 minutes, uploaded as a file or pasted as a Google Drive link. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit, and a semester of 26 two-hour lectures makes 3,120 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 covers.
From the front row to the notes
The MV88+ makes a phone a decent lecture recorder. The file still has to leave the phone.
Where the lecture is saved
The MV88+ sends stereo sound into the phone, and the app that records keeps the file: Shure's own app has its own library, and the camera app puts video in the gallery or photo library. Share the lecture from that app to Files, to a computer or to Google Drive, then upload it or paste the link.
Audio or video, and how big
Audio-only is the lighter choice for lectures. A 24-bit stereo WAV at 48 kHz is about 1 GB an hour, so two hours is near 2.1 GB and starts once a pack is on the account; a compressed format is far smaller. Check the app's format setting, and choose a compressed one for a full day of classes.
Pointing the mic
Place the phone on the desk facing the lecturer, or near the speaker if you are allowed. Stereo pickup catches questions from the room too, more faintly, and those are usually transcribed. Ask before you record if the lecturer has a rule about it.
Revision from the transcript
Each lecture returns with a brief of its thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps for each topic, and the dates, formulas and names spoken. The chat over the transcript answers a question such as where the second example was worked, so you replay one minute, not two hours.
Phone lectures elsewhere
Two hours of lecture on a phone is easy to record and slow to turn into notes.

FAQ
Shure MV88+ recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 2-hour MV88+ lecture take?
About 4 minutes, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A three-hour seminar takes about 6.
What does a semester of MV88+ lectures cost?
Two 2-hour lectures a week for 13 weeks are 3,120 minutes, on the $24 pack of 5,000 with 1,880 left for revision sessions. One lecture alone fits the $6 pack of 500, and the first 20 minutes on a first visit are free.
Can I paste a link instead of uploading from the phone?
Yes. Put the lecture in Google Drive with link sharing on and paste the share link; YouTube and Vimeo links work too if the lecture was posted there.
How big can one MV88+ lecture file be?
Each file may be 10 hours or 5 GB at most, with 2 GB the limit before your first pack. A long stereo WAV over 2 GB starts once a pack is on the account.
What if my lectures are not in English?
The MV88+ lecture's language is detected automatically, among 99. Lectures in Korean or Japanese with English terms inside are handled, and a lecture that switches language is detected on the main one.
Which formats come back, and is the lecture private?
An MV88+ lecture exports to TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Lectures are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and nothing connects to the MV88+ or its app.
