Transcribe a YuJa lecture recording straight from the media library.
A two-hour YuJa lecture downloaded from the media library is transcribed in about 4 minutes, and you get the first 20 minutes free. Eight two-hour lab lectures come to 960 minutes and fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. WhipScribe has no YuJa integration; download the recording where you have permission, then upload it here.
From the media library
YuJa keeps a college's lectures in one library. Each one can become a document.
Finding the download
In YuJa, a media item's options can include a download, depending on how the owner and the institution have set things up. The file is usually an MP4; check the item's options or the export settings if you see a different format. No download option means the owner has not shared the file.
Students and the owner's rules
Students transcribe the YuJa lectures the lecturer allows them to download. Lecturers can download everything in their own library and post transcripts for the class, which is often the simplest route for accessibility notes too.
Lab lectures and long blocks
Community college and university labs often run two hours with a demonstration in the middle. The demonstration's spoken steps transcribe; the clatter of equipment and long silent stretches do not, and the transcript simply moves on to the next thing said. For a lab, the chapters often line up with the steps of the procedure, which makes the write-up quicker.
Cost for a course
Eight lab lectures of two hours are 960 minutes on the $12 pack. Two 2-hour lectures fit easily in the $6 pack of 500 minutes, with 260 minutes to spare. Upload them on upload page one at a time or in a row.
What a library of video does not give you
The lecture is stored. Finding one sentence in it is still hard.
✗ Library video only
Video in a library is easy to keep and slow to use.
- Scrubbing a 2-hour lecture for one step
- Notes that miss the demonstration
- The Whisper API stops at 25 MB per upload
- Splitting the file to suit a short-clip service
- Losing the original timestamps
- Nothing to search across the course
✓ Library video, transcribed
The lecture as text, with timestamps that match the video.
- The full lecture, one upload
- Chapters for each part of the lab
- Steps, terms and figures listed
- The questions the lecture answers
- A chat that finds the demo's third step
- DOCX notes and SRT captions

FAQ
YuJa lectures, answered.
How long does a two-hour YuJa lecture take?
About 4 minutes. Transcription runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 75-minute class is ready in under 3 minutes.
How much does a course of YuJa lectures cost?
Eight two-hour lectures are 960 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000. Two lectures alone, 240 minutes, use part of the $6 pack of 500. If this is your first visit, the first 20 minutes are free and the pack transcribes the rest.
Can I paste a YuJa link?
No. YuJa links are not among the links WhipScribe opens, which are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast feeds. Download the file from the media library and upload it; if the lecture is also on YouTube, paste that link.
What size of YuJa file can I upload?
One media file may be 10 hours long or 5 GB in size. Without a pack, uploads go up to 2 GB, and a heavier video starts once a pack is on the account. If the upload turns the file away, convert it to MP3 and try again.
Will a lecture in Spanish or Tagalog work?
Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically. A lecture that switches between English and Tagalog is handled in one recording, and any mixed lecture is detected on its main language.
Exports and privacy?
Each lecture exports to TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. The lecturer, and students when they speak up, are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters rather than on each line. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
