VidGrid classroom and training video · about 2 min per hour

Transcribe a VidGrid lecture or training recording classroom or staff room.

A VidGrid recording downloaded as a file is transcribed at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 6-hour training day takes about 12 minutes and a 45-minute class under 2. The first 20 minutes are free; a 360-minute training day fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. WhipScribe does not connect to VidGrid; the recording's owner downloads it, or lets you, and the file comes here.

Classroom and training video

VidGrid holds the screen recordings and the class videos. Text makes them quick to use.

Getting the recording

The person who made a VidGrid video can download it, and anyone else needs their permission or the download option the owner has shared. The file is usually an MP4; if it arrives in another format and the upload refuses it, convert it to MP3 first.

A training day as one file

Staff training recorded across a day can run five or six hours with breaks. Upload it whole: one file can hold up to 10 hours, a silent break produces no text, and the transcript resumes at the next voice with timestamps still counting from the start of the recording. A day split across a morning and an afternoon file works too, and each half gets its own brief.

A library of short videos

Twenty training videos of 45 minutes each are 900 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 with plenty left for next quarter's batch. Each pack is bought once, and its minutes stay on the account.

What trainers make from it

Upload on upload page and each recording returns a brief, chapters, the procedures and figures mentioned and the questions it answers. Trainers turn the DOCX into handouts and the SRT into captions for the original video. When a procedure changes, the transcript shows which recordings mention the old step, so the right videos get re-recorded.

What slows training video down

New staff should not have to watch six hours to find one procedure.

✗ Video only

Training libraries grow faster than anyone can watch them. Most people search before they watch, and video gives them nothing to search.

  • Rewatching a module to find one step
  • No written version for staff who prefer reading
  • Lecture videos far over the Whisper API's 25 MB cap
  • Cutting a training day into slices
  • Mismatched clocks between slices
  • Questions from attendees never captured

✓ Video plus transcript

A document per recording, linked back to the moment in the video.

  • The day uploaded as one file
  • Chapters for each module
  • Procedures and numbers listed
  • Answers found through the chat
  • Handouts from DOCX
  • Captions from SRT or VTT

02:40:18 No, it keeps a draft for thirty minutes. Reopen it from the dashboard.

FAQ

VidGrid recordings, answered.

How long does a six-hour VidGrid training day take?

Roughly 12 minutes, because each hour of audio takes about 2. A 45-minute class video takes under 2 minutes.

What does a library of training videos cost?

Twenty videos of 45 minutes are 900 minutes on the $12 pack of 2,000. A single six-hour day, 360 minutes, fits the $6 pack of 500. First-time visitors get the first 20 minutes free, and a pack picks up the rest from where the preview ended. A department that adds new videos every month can keep using the same credits, because they never expire.

Can a student transcribe a VidGrid class?

Yes, when the lecturer lets them download it. WhipScribe has no VidGrid integration and cannot open a video the owner has not shared. Trainers can also send learners the transcript instead of the video when the recording itself is internal.

How heavy can a VidGrid file be?

A VidGrid recording can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file, whichever comes first. Accounts without a pack can upload up to 2 GB; a larger training video starts once a pack has been bought. Screen recordings with mostly static slides are usually far below either limit.

Can training in Portuguese or Korean be transcribed?

Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically. A session that moves between two languages is detected on its main language, and the switches are handled.

Exports and privacy?

Training recordings come back as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. The trainer and attendees who speak are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
