Transcribe a long WEBM file recorded in the browser.
A long WEBM from a browser recorder transcribes as one upload: a 4-hour workshop comes back in about 8 minutes and only its audio counts toward minutes. Any WEBM up to 10 hours or 5 GB fits in a single file, the first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the remainder.
What the browser saved
The screen recording that ran all afternoon, read back in minutes.
Why your file is a WEBM
Browsers record with the WEBM format natively, so screen-recording extensions, in-browser voice recorders and many web meeting tools hand you a .webm. The audio inside is usually Opus, which carries speech well at a small size.
Size depends on the screen
An audio-only WEBM uses roughly 15 to 60 MB per hour. With video, the size follows how much moved on screen: slides barely add anything, while scrolling and video playback can push an hour past a gigabyte. Long captures over 2 GB start once a pack is on the account.
A missing length is normal
Browser-made WEBM files often play without showing a total length or let you seek only slowly. That is a header field the browser never wrote, not missing audio. Upload as it is, and if the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first.
Hours of screen time, organised
A four-hour workshop returns with a brief, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates that were said, and a chat for questions like when the deadline was mentioned.
Before / after
Browser recordings end up long, unlabelled and unwatched.
✗ A capture you never revisit
Long WEBM files are easy to make and hard to use.
- A player that cannot show the length
- Seeking that freezes halfway through
- Upload limits sized for short clips
- A re-encode to MP4 just to get text
- Four hours of screen watched again at speed
- Notes with no timestamps to check against
✓ Upload and read
The WEBM goes up as it is and returns as a transcript with one clock.
- One WEBM up to 10 hours or 5 GB
- Four hours in about 8 minutes
- Only the audio counted, never the frames
- Presenters named in the brief, quotes and chapters
- 240 minutes taken from a $6 pack of 500
- SRT and VTT that line up with the video

FAQ
Long WEBM questions.
How long does a 4-hour WEBM take to transcribe?
Around 8 minutes after upload, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A heavy screen capture may take longer to upload than to transcribe.
What does a 4-hour WEBM cost?
Only speech minutes count. Four hours is 240 minutes, which fits in the $6 pack (500 minutes) with 260 to spare. A 10-hour WEBM is 600 minutes and belongs on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
My WEBM is over 5 GB or longer than 10 hours. What then?
Extract the audio to MP3 or an audio-only WEBM, which takes hours of screen capture down to a few hundred megabytes at most. A recording longer than 10 hours needs two files, cut at a break.
Does WEBM upload without converting?
Try it as it is first. If the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first; the length, and so the minutes used, stays the same.
What languages can a WEBM recording be in?
99 languages, detected automatically. Mixed English and Tagalog in a single session is handled as spoken.
Which exports do I get, and where is it processed?
Every WEBM exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. The recording is transcribed on our own servers and is never used to train any model.
