Transcribe a Malay religious class the teaching, ready to read.
A Malay kuliah or religious class recorded in Singapore usually runs one to two hours and is transcribed at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 90-minute class takes roughly 3 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and four weekly 90-minute classes come to 360 minutes, which fits the $6 pack of 500.
What a recorded kuliah needs
The ustaz's explanation in writing, for those who missed the night.
Recitation is not transcribed
A class often begins with recitation and returns to verses during the lesson. Quran recitation is not transcribed; the teaching and explanation in Malay are, and the timestamps keep pointing at the right place in the recording.
Questions kept with answers
The question session at the end is often the most useful part. Chapters separate the lesson from the questions, and the brief lists the main points so a reader can go straight to the answer they need.
A year of weekly classes
Fifty-two weekly classes of 90 minutes make 4,680 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 covers. A month of four classes, 360 minutes, sits on the $6 pack of 500 with 140 to spare.
From phone or live stream
Upload a phone recording through upload page, or paste the link when the class was streamed to YouTube. A 2-hour class is text in about 4 minutes.
Why class recordings sit unheard
A weekly class recorded for years, and none of it searchable.
✗ Recordings only
Classes are kept on phones and channels, and finding one explanation means listening through the whole night. Congregants who work late or travel miss classes, and a recording alone does not tell them which part answered their question. Committees that want to publish notes have no time to type them.
- Listening again for one ruling
- Recitation typed in with the talk
- Tools that assume English
- Uploads capped below a class
- Notes that miss the question session
- A monthly fee for a weekly class
✓ Classes in text
Each kuliah as Malay text with chapters and a clock to the original recording. A reader can go straight to the chapter on the topic they care about, read the explanation, then listen to that passage for tone. Notes for a class newsletter start from the brief rather than from a blank page.
- Around 3 minutes for each 90-minute class
- Malay found on its own
- Ustaz and those who asked named in the summary
- The lesson and questions in separate chapters
- Chat over the transcript
- DOCX for class notes, SRT for the stream

FAQ
Malay religious class recordings, answered.
How long does a 90-minute kuliah take to transcribe?
About 3 minutes. A 2-hour class takes roughly 4, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio.
What does a month, or a year, of classes cost?
Four 90-minute classes are 360 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. A year of weekly classes is 4,680 minutes on the $24 pack of 5,000. On a first visit the opening 20 minutes are free, and a pack transcribes the rest of a longer class from where that preview ended.
Is the Quran recitation transcribed?
No. Recitation, nasyid and other chanted or sung parts are not transcribed. The teaching in Malay is, along with the questions and answers. Recitation in the middle of a lesson leaves a short gap in the text, and the explanation that follows picks up at its own timestamp.
The class quotes Arabic terms. How do they come out?
The class is detected on its main language, Malay, among 99 languages recognised automatically. Arabic terms said within a Malay sentence are handled, but check their spelling against your own convention before sharing.
What is the largest recording I can send?
Each class file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before the first pack, uploads are capped at 2 GB, and a larger video starts once a pack is on the account. A class streamed to YouTube can be pasted as a link.
What can be exported, and is the class recording private?
Classes export as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Recordings of classes are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
