For the Chinese ministry media desk

The sermon was preached in Mandarin. Now the whole congregation, and the people who missed it, can read it.

A sermon outline to start from

The brief sets out the message's main point and its takeaways, which gives the newsletter editor and the cell group leaders something to work from on Monday.

Verses, dates and names pulled out

Every Bible passage the preacher reads aloud is listed with its timestamp, together with the dates and names from the notices at the end.

Captions on the replay

Download SRT or VTT and attach Chinese subtitles to the service video, so older members and anyone watching on a train can follow without sound.

Large camera files welcome

The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; a full camera recording of the service continues on the upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB.

Why the message slips away

Many Chinese congregations in Australia record every service, and very few of those recordings are ever read.

✗ Without a transcript

The video sits on the church channel, the preacher's notes are in a phone, and a volunteer is asked to type up the key points in Chinese by Wednesday. Members who moved interstate, and relatives in China or Taiwan who watch the replay, get the video and nothing they can read or forward.

  • Hours of typing in Chinese characters
  • English-language tools that miss the Mandarin
  • A replay with no subtitles
  • Verses hard to find again in a 2-hour video
  • A family group overseas that cannot follow
  • The bilingual parts lost between two languages

✓ With WhipScribe

Upload after the service and read the sermon in Chinese before lunch is over. The preacher can correct the sermon text in DOCX and the elders can share a printed copy with members who are in hospital or housebound that week.

  • Chinese text of the whole service
  • Chapters for worship, sermon, offering and notices
  • Every passage read aloud listed
  • The preacher and guest speakers named in the summary
  • SRT and VTT for the YouTube replay
  • A month of services on the $6 pack

Sample output

A Mandarin sermon, with the English the preacher slips in.

Illustrative lines written for this page, not from a real congregation. In English: open your Bibles to John 15; I am the vine, you are the branches; this week, let us really abide; small group is Friday at 7:30, and the youth group meets downstairs.

FAQ

Mandarin church services in Australia, answered.

How quickly is a 2-hour Mandarin service transcribed?

In about 4 minutes. Processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 90-minute service is ready in about 3 and a long Easter service of three hours in about 6. The public proof is a 9.31-hour file finished in 1,033 seconds. Upload on Sunday afternoon and the text is waiting before the evening fellowship.

How many services does each pack cover?

At 120 minutes a service, four Sundays use 480 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. Thirteen Sundays, a quarter, use 1,560 minutes and fit the $12 pack of 2,000. A year of 52 two-hour services is 6,240 minutes: the $24 pack of 5,000 plus a $12 pack covers it. Credits never expire and there is no subscription.

The preacher mixes English into the Mandarin. Does that break the transcript?

No. The recording is detected on its main language, Mandarin here, and English words and phrases inside the sermon come through in the same pass. A service in which the message is interpreted line by line into English produces text for both voices.

Our livestream is on YouTube. Do we need to download it?

No. Paste the YouTube link, including a live replay, and the audio is fetched for you. If the service was streamed on a platform without a supported link, download the recording first and upload the file. A Facebook Live service, for example, is saved from the page's video library and then uploaded as an MP4.

Are the worship songs transcribed?

No. Singing and instrumental music are not transcribed; the speech is. Prayers, Scripture readings, the sermon and the notices come through, and the song sets leave a gap in the text.

Which files do we get, and who can see the recording?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Services are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, so prayer requests read from the front stay with the church.
