Transcribe research interviews for a study in Brazil.
To transcribe research interviews recorded in Brazil, upload each entrevista below: a 90-minute interview in Portuguese comes back in about 3 minutes, and one file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The first 20 minutes are free, and forty interviews of 90 minutes fit one $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.
For the qualitative researcher
Dozens of entrevistas, each one turned into a document you can code.
Portuguese, without choosing it
Language is detected from the audio, so a participant from Recife and one from Porto Alegre go through the same upload. Each interview is transcribed on its main language, and short English terms inside Portuguese answers usually come back as they were said.
DOCX for the coding stage
Download the transcript as DOCX and bring it into the qualitative software your project uses, such as NVivo, ATLAS.ti or MAXQDA. The timestamps stay in the text, so a coded excerpt can always be traced back to the minute it was spoken.
Budget for the whole fieldwork
Forty interviews of 90 minutes add up to 3,600 minutes, which sits inside the $24 pack of 5,000. Twenty interviews of 75 minutes come to 1,500 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000. Credits never expire, so a delayed second round of fieldwork still has minutes waiting.
Upload as the interviews arrive
Most interviews are recorded on a phone or as a video call and saved as M4A, MP3 or MP4. Send each one when it is done, or put the files in a Google Drive folder and paste the folder link; larger recordings go through upload page.
Why transcription stalls a project
Typing a 90-minute interview by hand takes most of a working day.
✗ Transcribing it yourself
Hand transcription runs at roughly four to six hours per recorded hour, which turns forty interviews into months of work before analysis starts.
- Six hours of typing per interview
- Pausing every few seconds for a word
- Free tools that stop at a short limit
- Files cut in pieces to fit an upload
- No timestamps to check a quote later
- Analysis waits until every file is typed
✓ Each interview in minutes
You send the recording and start reading while the next participant is being scheduled.
- About 3 minutes for 90 minutes
- Portuguese and English as spoken
- Files to 10 hours or 5 GB each
- Interviewer and participant named in the summary
- Questions the interview answers, listed
- DOCX, TXT, SRT, VTT and JSON

FAQ
Research interviews in Brazil: the questions researchers ask.
How long does a 90-minute research interview take to transcribe?
About 3 minutes, since processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 2-hour interview takes about 4 minutes, and you can upload the next file while the first one runs.
What does a full study of interviews cost?
Add up the minutes and pick the pack that holds them. One interview of up to 500 minutes fits the $6 pack; up to 2,000 minutes of interviews fit the $12 pack; a larger study, such as forty interviews of 90 minutes, fits the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. Prices are in US dollars, and the first 20 minutes are free for a first-time visitor.
Is there a size limit, and do I need to split long interviews?
Each file may run to 10 hours or weigh up to 5 GB. Before your first pack, uploads up to 2 GB start right away. An interview of 60 to 120 minutes is far inside both limits, so there is no splitting and the timestamps run unbroken from the first question to the last.
Does it handle Brazilian Portuguese and participants who switch to English?
Yes. Portuguese is one of 99 languages detected automatically, and a recording is transcribed on its main language. English terms quoted inside a Portuguese interview usually come back as they were said.
Which exports are there, and what happens to the participant's recording?
One run gives TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON for each interview. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete a recording and its transcript at any time, which matters when your consent forms set a retention period.
Can I give the transcripts straight to my coding software?
The DOCX export opens in qualitative analysis tools that accept Word documents. Many researchers read the transcript once against the audio before coding, especially for names of places and local expressions, and the timestamps make that check quick.
