Transcribe research interview recordings for the whole study.
Research interviews recorded in South Africa, usually 60 to 120 minutes each and dozens per study, transcribe at about 2 minutes per audio hour and export as DOCX for your coding software. The first 20 minutes are free, and thirty 90-minute interviews, 2,700 minutes in all, fit on the $24 pack of 5,000.
For postgraduate and funded studies
Every interview in the sample as text, weeks before you would have finished typing them.
DOCX that imports cleanly
Each interview exports as a DOCX with timestamps, ready to import into qualitative coding software. TXT and JSON are there for scripts and other tools.
A whole Drive folder at once
Paste the link to a shared Google Drive folder and every recording in it is picked up. Single large files from a field recorder go through upload page.
The study's minutes on one pack
Thirty interviews of 90 minutes are 2,700 minutes, on the $24 pack of 5,000. A pilot of five one-hour interviews, 300 minutes, sits on the $6 pack.
Quotes you can place
Each interview has a brief, chapters and key quotes with timestamps. When a supervisor asks where a quote came from, you can point to the minute.
Why transcription eats the thesis timeline
Typing interviews by hand costs about a working day for each hour recorded.
✗ Typing every interview
A study of thirty interviews can take months of evenings to transcribe by hand.
- Five to six hours of typing per hour
- A budget line for paid typists
- Files cut to fit an upload cap
- No timestamps to recheck quotes
- Retyping into a format the software takes
- Fieldwork that waits on transcription
✓ Text for the whole sample
The interviews come back as files your analysis can start on the same week. That frees fieldwork weeks for analysis instead of typing.
- About 3 minutes per 90-minute interview
- DOCX, TXT and JSON from one run
- Drive folders taken whole
- A study on the $24 pack
- Speakers identified in the summary and quotes
- Never used for training

FAQ
Research interviews, answered.
How long does a 90-minute interview take?
About 3 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A two-hour interview is ready in about 4, and a batch from a Drive folder runs one file after another.
What does a full study cost?
Count the minutes: thirty interviews of 90 minutes are 2,700 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 covers with room for follow-ups. Twelve one-hour interviews, 720 minutes, fit on the $12 pack of 2,000. Prices are in US dollars, with no subscription, and the credits never expire.
Which file format should I use for coding software?
DOCX is the usual choice for qualitative coding software, and it keeps the timestamps, so you can jump back to the audio when a passage needs a second listen. TXT suits simple tools and JSON suits your own scripts.
Are interviews in Afrikaans or Zulu supported?
Yes. Both are among the 99 languages detected automatically, alongside English. An interview that switches language is detected on its main language, so read through the passages in the other language before you quote them.
My recorder files are large WAVs. Is there a limit?
One file can be up to 5 GB or 10 hours. Before the first pack the upload limit is 2 GB, and a larger file starts once a pack is on the account. No interview needs splitting.
What happens to participants' recordings?
Participant recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete each recording and transcript from your Library when your data plan says to.
