60 to 120 min · dozens per study · DOCX out

Transcribe research interviews a whole study, not one file at a time.

A 90-minute qualitative interview is transcribed in about 3 minutes, and the DOCX export is ready to import into the coding software your lab uses. The first 20 minutes are free; a study of twenty 90-minute interviews is 1,800 minutes and fits the $12 pack of 2,000. Graduate students and research teams in the US routinely run dozens of these per project, so the page works the numbers for a study, not a single file.

Built for a study, not a single file

Dozens of long interviews, back as documents you can code the same week.

The arithmetic for a study

Interviews of 60 to 120 minutes average about 90. Twenty of them are 1,800 minutes on the $12 pack of 2,000; forty come to 3,600 and sit on the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. Credits never expire, so a study that runs across two semesters keeps its balance.

DOCX that imports cleanly

Each interview downloads as a Word document with timestamps on every line, which most qualitative coding tools accept as a source. TXT and JSON come from the same run if your pipeline prefers plain text or structured data.

Check a quote against the audio

Every transcript line carries the time it was said, so a quote headed for a chapter or a paper can be checked against the recording in seconds. The interviewer and participant are identified in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

Uploading a batch

Send interviews one after another, or paste a Google Drive folder link and the folder is read in one go. At about 2 minutes per audio hour, a day's fieldwork of four interviews is ready within a quarter of an hour.

Where transcription slows a study

Fieldwork ends. Then a month of typing starts.

✗ Typing or waiting

Typing an interview by hand takes several times its length, and a study of thirty turns into a semester's work.

  • Hours at the keyboard for each hour of tape
  • Files over 25 MB refused by the Whisper API
  • Interviews split to fit a short-file tool
  • Timestamps that drift after re-joining parts
  • Exports that need reformatting before import
  • A monthly plan billed through the writing-up months

✓ Transcripts while the interview is fresh

Upload after each session and start coding the same week.

  • Ninety minutes of talk in about 3 minutes
  • Drive folder links read in one go
  • DOCX, TXT, SRT, VTT and JSON
  • Timestamps on every line
  • Interviewer and participant named in the brief
  • First 20 minutes free to test your audio

00:06:50 To start, can you describe a typical week in the role, before the schedule changed?
00:23:12 Mostly evenings. I would pick up a shift after the kids were asleep, and that worked until the second job came along.
00:51:40 You mentioned trust earlier. What would have had to be different for you to report it?
01:24:05 Honestly, someone outside the team. If it had gone to anyone I worked with, I would not have said a word.

FAQ

Research interviews, the practical questions.

How fast is a 90-minute research interview transcribed?

About 3 minutes. A two-hour interview takes about 4, and a batch of ten 90-minute interviews about half an hour in total. Finished transcripts wait in your Library.

How much would thirty interviews cost?

Thirty interviews at 75 minutes each are 2,250 minutes, more than the $12 pack holds, so they belong on the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. At 60 minutes each the same thirty come to 1,800 minutes and fit the $12 pack of 2,000. Your first recording's opening 20 minutes are free.

Will the file from my recorder upload?

Almost certainly: a single file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before you buy a pack, uploads are capped at 2 GB, and anything larger waits until a pack is on the account. A 90-minute interview saved as stereo WAV is roughly 900 MB, and as MP3 far less.

Are participant recordings kept out of model training?

Yes. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete each recording and its transcript at the point your protocol says the audio must go.

Do interviews in Spanish or another language work?

99 languages are detected automatically, Spanish, Korean and Portuguese among them. Each interview is detected on its main language, so a participant who answers mostly in Spanish gets a Spanish transcript.

Which exports come back?

DOCX, TXT, SRT, VTT and JSON from the same run. DOCX is the one most coding software imports; JSON carries the timestamps in a structured form for scripts and spreadsheets.
